A good friend worked with David at Disneyland for years. They also had an acoustic duo that played around SoCal. AND David played at her CSULB Senior music Recital. Good times. 🙂

I don’t know. Heard this version on Pirate Radio in Key West, FL and they hooked me up. I would like to find out if it was on one of his solo records.

Saw Poco and Manhattan Transfr at the Fillmore East, I still have the free playbill they gave out at that time. So many of my contemporary musicians are passing away every year. Memories are so precious and bittersweet

AFAIC'd, Poco was one of the most underrated bands to come out of American't. Their album LEGEND, is simply one of the best collections of numbers I have ever heard, and I am a 69 yr old hard rocker from South Africa. Sad that " power struggles" an egos, 2 of mankinds' biggest downfalls, exist in rock music, as well as polisicks. There is no hope humanity, Jesus, so come back, asap.

I was living in New Orleans when this song came out and it so perfectly captures the essence of the city. I returned many years later and couldn’t quit listening to this masterpiece while I was visiting. I don’t think there is an experience any where quite like the full moon rising over lake Pontchatrain in the cool falling rain, the heavy humid night air, the smells and the relief from the daytime heat, truly the heart of the night is the best time of the day in New Orleans. Poco has blessed so many lives with their music. Thank you!

You’re welcome!!! I’m a native New Orleanian and grew up listening to so many genres of music with Poco being one of them. I enjoyed reading what this song means to you and you are right…the scorching summer days do make the heart of the night time the right time to cool down! Best!!! G

You’re welcome! I feel fortunate to have heard it while in Key West and learned about Paul Cotton’s connection to Key West. I’m a native New Orleanian and grew up listening to so many genres of music with this tune from Poco being my favorite tune next to “Crazy Love”. Pirate Radio in Key West sent me the mp3 and I felt I should pay homage to Paul Cotton and Poco. I’m so glad this beautiful version of “The Heart of the Night” has reached so many people. It’s just so beautiful!!!
