Can u give me more info on being a truck driver i want to get into the industry !
@everythingeddie2 ай бұрын
Sure! The specifics vary depending where you live. But in general becoming a truck driver will require: A clean driving record with no major violations. Google a CDL school near you. Keep in mind, if they do not offer manual trucks, you will have an exception on your license. Some may even offer grants to help pay for the class. In class you will obtain physical exam, Permit and plenty of practice with the tractor all prior to obtaining your CDL. I hope this help. Let me know if there’s something specific you want to know. If it’s easier I can post a video on the breakdown. Good luck to you.

Old school says, you don't inspect once, but you walk around every time it's out of your site. Special spots are 5th wheel connection, air lines and tires. It's a pain in the butt till you take off and your trailer doesn't.
@everythingeddie4 ай бұрын
Great advice! I do that all the time. It takes seconds to achieve this. Every time I walk back to my truck after being unattended, I always check my pins, 5th wheel and connectors. Seeing how the lock was my first time I experienced it being left behind, I do not want to let my guard down when god forbid someone moved a pin or something and I failed to do a quick walk around. Thank you!

Let me guess, you're in a railroad terminal. Yeah its your job to inspect the mf trailer before you drive it. As a yard jockey for the norfolk, we do not have time to get out and do that shit for every single container we lift off a train. If you happen to find some shit like that, just keep it as a souvenir or toss it on the ground bc we do not care. Depending on the size of the yard, we lift like 1000+ containers a day off of multiple trains. So we aint getting out of the truck except to quickly attach air lines

For you if you don’t mind do they keep you going steady and is the pay all right and do they have cameras in the truck all yeah and I am brand new to trucking
@everythingeddie5 ай бұрын
Hi Lynn. And thank you! for as long as I’ve been here, they never not run me. It is pretty consistent. I can average between 4-6 loads a day depending on the day. Most people can do more or less. If it is slow, they will find work for you. If it is busy, they will give you as many loads you can handle. The pay will determine how much you work. For me, I can do about 6-8 loads a day. And that’s me slacking lol. You should see a check anywhere between $12-1400/ week before taxes. Lowest would be $1000/ week. This account requires 3 months experience. And they do have in facing cameras on all vehicle. This is a new thing that happened within the year. I’m currently about to post a video answering your questions in more detail. Stay tune for that. I hope I was helpful. And good luck to you 😊

Which one good OTR or regional I am recent graduate I called them and they told me regional 0.55 cent per mile and OTR 0.43 cent per mile ?
@everythingeddie5 ай бұрын
My opinion: I wouldn’t focus solely on the CPM as it could be misleading. I can offer you $1/mile but have you sit most of the week. Instead, focus on the average of miles you’d get per week. You’d find that sometimes , you could get paid about the same. To answer your question, I like the Regional route better. Especially if you can get a dedicated lane working for an account. It’s consistent work and you’d make about the same every week. OTR can be fun and lucrative if they have the freight that keeps you moving. OTR could be a gamble where I know for a fact there’ll be times you’ll end up at a drop on a Sat and sit till Monday because there’s no planners till Monday. Regional, you could go to a state or two away and back and be home during your reset at times. I hope this help and good luck to you. Congratulations in graduating.

Dude, pull every load that's a drop-n-hook as if it's top heavy. Insofar as the weight on the BOL. You'll know if it's heavy when you start to pull it and also brake. I always scale anything over 30k lbs on the BOL or I feel the BOL is outrageously inaccurate. If it's a sealed D&H there's nothing you can do if it's not leaking, the trailer in not leaning to indicate an incorrectly distributed load. In the past three years, I've only had to go back to a shipper three times because I could not get my tandems under the required weight no matter how far back I put them. Twice in Ft Smith Arkansas at the Planters plant coz DHL is running the joint and they're clueless. The third time was at Reynolds in Temple TX cos it was a load going out to CA and could not weigh out with the tandems at the 40' mark. There are a lot other things to worry about, specifically, 4 wheelers, robbery, sleeper drivers, so much more.
@everythingeddie7 ай бұрын
All great points!! I appreciate it. Absolutely! I agree about everything else possibly being a concern and you’ve mentioned a few. I guess what I was trying to say is that, all those obvious issues are all part of trucking and are pretty obvious. However , I feel like not many people would think to worry about a load that is sealed. A newer driver may look at that and assume it must be good. And not think twice on how it’s been loaded. You clearly have years under your belt and this subject is common sense. And it’s a great point you made about scaling. I’ve been on this account about 2 years now and we’ve had about 3 rollovers that I know of since that time. Each one was because they took a turn too fast. One was just going around a roundabout going 20 mph and fell to the side. Maybe they were overly confident on the weight of the load they were carrying. But I 100% Agree there’s things more serious to be aware of. But for me, seeing how most (new) drivers may not think about how it’s loaded and just go by the BOL and see that they’re under 25lbs , they should drive if they’re 40k lbs. I appreciate your feedback and thank you.

With the kind of technology that exist nowadays, a camera, even a wireless bluetooth / wifi connected type camera recording device should be installed on all trailers to be able to check the load inside the container, no excuses really.
