This makes it look so simple. That is EXTREMELY misleading. I used to be a computer programmer and yet I cannot get the tool updated. Just keep hitting road blocks. It tells me to select the files I want to update? How on earth would I know which ones need updating? Plus, when I try to select, it goes to the files on my PC instead of the tool. The software is completely useless and I will NEVER buy Autel again. Almost all tools and gadgets today come with superlative software that walks you effortlessly through every step. The Autel software is the complete opposite. Seems like they have tried to save money by hiring third-rate programmers, and it shows.

Why don't Autel talk about diagnostic certificates that are now imposed by many car manufactures for simply reading and erasing codes.???? Let's take an audi/vw for an example, 90 minute certificate, 24h certificate that has to be purchased separately just for reading and clearing codes(there are YT videos for such)

I can confirm a very recent update included this capability on the ultra. You are capable of authenticating the secure gateway of newer audi vw tools. This is essentially the same process as dodge has implemented since 2018, with a separate authentication subscription service seamlessly integrated into the software.

Any scan tool company that signs up with nastf is part of the scam tools being sold . Theft happens in under 30 seconds and that's the thief Putting on there seat belt. A theaf will not use a scan tool to steel a car they will use a eprom copy device standing beside you they not only will copy your key they will grab your credit card scan Id also . A scan tool is simply not a tool used by theft it's a simpler tool used and cheaper tool used. 20 bucks and Amazon sells them.

We still have the 906BT and it works great, probably slower then the new ones but saving a few seconds isn't that big a deal for us.

Very disappointed with the subscription . $1600 a year is nuts. Forget getting your updates if your are one day late.

Ours is $750 per year for updates, or $500 if you get one of the 40% off sales they do a few times a year. It still works fine after the subscription is expired just no updates, I let ours expire a few times and renew it at the next sale.

Howard- Licensing and data is not getting any cheaper. There are a lot of costs that go into having your scanner operate as it does and maybe even more expensive, having the rights to do what it does. The OE manufacturers don’t give this information away to companies like Autel. Truth be told they’d rather Autel and you not have the information to begin with. These are the costs in this type of business.

Buyer beware.. Great tester for sure... You will break testing clamps. Extremely cheap. I bought 12 of these for my shop and I have had to replace each one. They really need to redesign it.

IM508 is pretty much ignored by Autel.. Vehicle management not even available on the menu. All up to date. No option for transferring anything.. and very little info on using the machine. I imagine someone can offer training for a cost but would be nice if there was information available. Like 2 a4 pages would be enough to get someone going. thank God for KZbin.

Autel's Ransomware downloaded onto the IM508S killing All Keys Lost and even add a key functions for Toyota is a bait and switch. Purchasing a brand new diagnostic programmer only to have it's function murdered by a download I'm calling Ransomware. Pay Toyota Tech Stream $45 per programming a.k.a Ransomware. This all happened post purchase. This is fraud. It's a monopoly. Nothing less than fraud and I hope they get sued. I'm filing a complaint with the FTC and attorney general of my state. Will it go anywhere? One never knows. I'll never buy another piece of equipment from Autel again. They are involved in deception against their trusted customer base in my opinion. News Flash, I can get around the cash grab because I have other equipment that will never get that ransomware update installed and I also have the ability to eeprom Toyota. So, Toyota you can kiss my a$$.

I agree with you completely. Terabytes of data stored is nothing these days. I build computers for a hobby. Terabytes of storage is no big deal in 2024. Too EZ.
