I remember this driver very well. I was a teenager in the back seat. As we started, Daddy told me and Mama, "No outbursts, gasping etc. If you need to put your hand over your mouth." Mama asked "How long is this road ?" as she looked down. Daddy said "25 miles". Mama put her hand over her mouth. lol. We were on the outside lane.

I know all about this place because of the concerts. I had no idea it was such a cool spot to hike. I should have expected it, since it is Colorado. Great video! Glad to see you are still exploring.

Early May of 1981, me and the wife spent 3 nights of 10 camping there. The park had just opened for the season and we had the whole place to ourselves! I don't think there was a single other party. Days were chilly and nights were COLD! Perfect for a newlywed couple with a new queen air mattress and two Montomery Ward sleeping bags zipped together ;^D My 18 year old beauty had never been camping before but she's always been a trooper. We took about $200 of our wedding money and bought the bags, mattress, a $50 Sears pup tent, Coleman stove, cooler and lantern. We were good to go! Preceded decades of camping with our 3 future kids. Still pulling the wool over her eyes after 43 years as to how much I "married up". As a child, me and my siblings called Tahquamenon the "root beer falls"!

How could you do a 10 minute video on things to see in Mackinac City and NOT INCLUDE Fort Michilimackinac, which is by far the coolest thing there???????

I have heard about this place. The other half of the Shining inspiration hotel is Mohonk Mountain house, near me. I go every fall. Once day I will make a video of it. When you walked into the open room i chuckled. It would have been even cooler if it were room 217. Or 237.

I have never heard of the Mohonk Mountain house. You definitely should do a video. We actually weren’t supposed to be walking around the halls by the rooms but we didn’t know the rules at the moment. Not sure where room 217 was but would like to go back and see it.

@@RuggedMile That is the room in the Shining where the real bad stuff goes down. Its 217 in the book and 237 in the movie. Google the mohonk mountain house and you can see it. Its amazing.

I lived just miles away and it was my favorite spot until all the COVID refugees showed up and ruined a beautiful place . It's a very narrow trail and people don't know it's a one way trail and they go the wrong way and it's dangerous with steep drop offs ...it's no longer enjoyable.

I miss living 20 minutes from the park. Would take a drive there every other weekend. Occasionally would drive the Long X road instead of the park.
