Ok it bothers me when people think “regular” coffee is an actual term for coffee. It’s not. It’s called drip coffee or filtered coffee. In Australia and Italy espresso is their standard for coffee . Then there’s a macchiato, cappuccino, latte (depending on how much milk you want) in America most of us grow up drinking drip coffee but if you go to a coffee shop you have to know that there’s several different brew methods and YES they are all (real) coffee.

As a fellow barista, if you ask really nicely, they will happily reinform you of what they want. I also usually read/repeat back to the customer their drink and slowly to ensure they are able to correct any mistakes on my part!

TRUE! i hate making pour-overs at work though.... takes so much time, and we're always understaffed so it's a pain to pull myself or another barista away to focus on just standing there slowly pouring water... while a line of people & drinks & food starts building up...

I'd say I'm more like the pour over, if I'm new to the shop, for instance if it's not a Starbucks where I have my go-to's (the usual suspects), but always switch it up between a Vanilla Cafe Frappe, Green Tea Smoothie-in the Spring and Summer/ or a Latte in the colder months. I always love trying something new, and if something catches my eye on the menu, I'll see what it's like. Thing is I try and be prompt when ordering (to be courteous of their time and those waiting in line), being very polite, give the Barista my full attention-not talking on my phone, always remember to give a tip (I used to work in Food Service and restaurants), try to keep my order easy and basic (that one guy who likes his coffee a certain temp and wants this milk and that milk, plus a shot of something, wtf. I cannot even.) Sorry to you guyes who have to serve most of these types of people: those whom think, that the world...and the coffee bean... revolves around them...
