I pressed the like button when you mentioned the album of the year. In fact, even now, apart from The Last Will and Testament, there are no better ones.And I just heard the influence of the favorite bands you mentioned, but it still has its own originality.I'm relatively new to prog metal music and what makes me especially happy is that your review confirms what I feel about that album 😊🥰

Favorite band but when this came out I picked my 2 songs I liked after hearing the whole thing and haven’t listened to it until last year where I truly absorbed the entire album. It’s really hard to place it, I didn’t care for it, it grew into my favorite album for a long while and now I’m confused where to put it. I will say lack of Brent sucked to me a lot, he’s got some incredible solos along with some debatable best in here but I feel Emperor of Sand and Cold Dark Place was some of his greatest efforts. Sorry for rambling

definitely overgivenheten on the top. such an incredible album. and it resonnate deeply when, perhaps, let say, you're past 45. the lyrics are meaningful , sad, melancholic. saw them live 2 months ago (and 2 years ago as well) opening for in flames in paris, had a blast, they played their killer new single composed by Simon the new guitarist (who's also a producer and ssl freak) and finished the set with stalfagel (on wich my kid is on my shoulders at 1'20 on their video tour recap, couldn't be more happy🎉)
@MartinaHorvat-g3gАй бұрын
Many say that the lyrics are not the reason why they listen to Opeth. But the power of this song can be understood more deeply by those who have gone through such a situation. Mikael Akerfeldt was going through a divorce at the time. The song is musically beautiful, but these lyrics made me cry for two days.

You better believe they can play this live. I saw them in 2017 and they closed the concert with this song as an encore (imagine - a 23-minute encore!) after doing the entire Images & Words album plus throwing in As I Am, Pull Me Under, and even a cover of Metallica's Master of Puppets. All with Mike Mangini on drums. Defiitely the best bunch of musicians in my book...
