i'm about to fix my old marzocchi dirtjumper 3. can i just order some random 32mm seal rings and replace the oil? that's most likely it? or do i have to get some special marzocchi rings if i want it to work for whatever reason. and what else should i replace? anything that could be broken too or should be replaced?

I am 1.77 not so tall, but I have really long legs and really short torso. If I use a normal stack I just fell incredibly unconfortable at the front of the bike, and if I bend my legs to be comfortable I get extremely tired cause of the leverage of my long femur. The solution for me is having a high front end, the way I achieve it is with high rise bars, over forking and using the biggest well I can in the front. 27.5 in the front for me just doesn’t fell right, I have to rise my stack even more which in technical descents makes a weird leverage into the front of the bike often almost trowing me over the bars. So even when I used to denial it, you should also consider rider physiognomy when choosing wells.

Do they make a left/right threaded feed through barb to join 2 lengths of line with fluid continuity. The left/right allows cut and thread lines together with narrow line continuity for tight spaced channels?

I dont understand why you make it sound so difficult and put people off trying it themselves, your insentive will make people spend unnecessarily and not learn for themselves, its actually a lot easier than you make out and you dont need to rely on "specialised" equipment, every bike owner should be learning to maintain their own bikes not line the pockets of overpaid mechs due to uncertainty and laziness

I was searching for how to replace the bearings on my Banshee Spitfire and just happened to stumble upon this video with your own Spitty! I’m still gonna give it a go myself! 😂

Bike shops charge more for doing the work than the cost of the tools itself, or about the same cost. If you change bearings once a year, learning how to do this yourself will save yourself a fortune in the long run.

Fox R Shock, coil spring pace forks... ridden to death and caked in road dirt. Ruined rear mech, ruined BB, so I picked it up and took it away.

good advise I think. It looks like one of the hardest home machanic jobs. I would love to take my bikes to the LBS but unfortunately there isn't a bike shop around my way that I could trust and anyway I need to learn how to change frame bearings due to having 4 full suss bike in the family😬

Yeh it would be nice if you could trust your LBS. But at the end of the day they charge the same amount of money as qualified car mechanics without actually having s qualification. Where I live this can be 100 dollars an hour. In my experience they often are not as accountable as actual qualified mechanics\tradesmen. If you're going to be into bikes for a long time you're better off buying the right tools and learning to do it yourself. Most of the tools are cheap compared to paying your LBS the hourly rate they charge.

I was expecting to hear some actual reason why you shouldn't EVER change your bearings. This is just you looking out for us getting frustrated with a quirky DIY service job? Strange. I also don't understand your cost argument. You suggest paying the shop to change bearing twice a year as being cheaper than getting the tools to do it yourself? Are you only riding one season and then giving up on riding after that? SMH

Trek Marlin 4 has the Rear hub Formula DC31, it will be good if there is a 8 speed 11-42T freewheel available for 1X8 conversion, I cannot find any 8 speed 11-42T freewheel to suit the Rear hub Formula DC31

Thanks for the video! I just got a similar dropper on ebay for 1$. The guy says it wasn't working and after I tore it apart it looks like it is missing the smaller rod that slides inside the shaft of the cylinder that actuates it. (starting at 2:26 is a good shot of what I'm talking about. the smaller shaft sticking out to the left of the threads) Any chance you know what diameter that little rod is? I want to just make one and I'm hoping that fixes the problem. Thank you!!!!

Buy specific bearing puller and fitting tools for your bike. You can often find them for under $50. My bike shop would probably charge upward of $250 for a pivot over haul. I’d rather do it myself on a Sunday. If you aren’t good with tools or dislike faffing, support you local bike shop

Once or twice a year change out bearings😂 . Alot of bike manufacturers don't even reccomend that. Also, pulling bearings is a critical skill for all forms of wrenching: automotive, small engines, utilities, etc...its a good skill to learn. I will say, proper puller tools really does change the game; but you don't have to spend 500$ with park took. Any ol 2 jaw or collet style puller set from harbor freight will work just fine for <50$

It went together easily in less than an hour. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

pop them out with a hammer, or press them out with a nut, bolt, and washers. press in the new bearings using the old bearing and a nut/bolt. total cost $0.00 and an hour of your time. LBS-$100+ and a week or 2 wait... ill agree that if you dont have the most basic tools you should just take it to your lbs, because there is a slim chance you know how to use them. but for the other 90% of people....getting bearings swapped 2 times a year like you said would be ridiculously expensive. get creative, you can use random junk laying around as a die to press them in/out if needed. i didnt even know bearing cup sets for bikes existed until recently, never needed them..
