Voted (by me) the #1 most savage beast athlete that I'd want to have on my side in a brawl. Endings are sad, but I'll remember prime era Charlie for as long as I live. Robbie made me cry. Didn't think Charlie would do the same. Thought wrong. 😢 Happy retirement big man, you were frightening in all the best ways!

I don't blame Houston at all for those comments. The media has no business trying to divide clubs while the season is still on. There are plenty of other stories during the season. Wait until the GF is over. Until then, they can go pound sand with this type of story.

King fucking Charles, he lived up to the name king. In his prime this man was near unstoppable, there would be games where he would miss easy shots on goal but would kick a check side boundary goal on a tight angle. My favourite memory of King Charles is in 2022 vs freo at optus, we were down big and Charlie kicks a check side goal on a tight angle and the next centre bounce he takes the ball, slams it on his boot and kicks another in a minute sparking a near comeback. Thank you for everything you have done for our club Charlie, your presence and energy on our forward line will be heavily missed and not forgotten, seeing the games where he didnt play well really hurt to watch it was like a Lion king losing its strength. All tgmhe best for the future King Charles, you will always have a home at alberton.

Losing Houston is very unfortunate. I'm frustrated by his assertion to the media a few weeks ago that he "wasn't going anywhere" He shouldn't have said anything. Now he just seems insincere and I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling disappointed in him.

I think lukocious will be key to getting the houston deal done, since I hear gold coast are happy to trade for future firsts. port get lukocious and a first rounder this year tied to a melbourne club, goldcoast get a future first tied to a melbourne club, melbourne club get houston but give up a first from this year and next. but I'm excited to see what a forward line with no dixon, but a fit powell pepper back and lukosious could look like, it'd have to be more dynamic.

Ash Johnson from Pies could be a cheap trade-in to help forward line Marshall Georgiades he had a poor 2024, but his 22&23 were good. Rioli may be a real help to him. Mcinnes from Pies, another player with upside and is young forward starved of opportunities Maybe picks, not the answer for Port right now Johnson and Mcinnes may be a win win win for trading Houston to Pies plus a future first

Lukoscius would be a nice pick up for us, very very gutted about houston, knowing that he requested a trade back to victoria hurts a lot and if he decides to stay with us it'll be a bit awkward knowing he wears our jumper but deep down he wants out.

I think the forward line is the main thing to address this off-season. Step 1 is we thank Dixon for his service because for some reason we can't NOT bomb it on his head whenever he plays. I almost feel like we could have been competitive in the prelim if he didn't play because we might have hit some targets in our f50 instead of just hoisting it in all damn day.
@petepowell7399

the anger and disappointment shouldn't sway decisions, but, we do need to ruthlessly look at the list and let the players go that aren't there...I'll leave that to the list team. I am worried about dicko's body, he has been slammed every week (bloody blind umps) since coming over here and I am worried about toddy and his continuous concussion issues. both players need to think about life after footy and their health in the long term.

I like Houston, so I'm sad about his treasonous treachery. Bring back some draft picks and actually use them to bring young talent in, and I'll survive. Soldo's brain is broken; good riddance; what a dumbass. Sweet was always the superior prospect, and Visentini feels like a great player whose ceiling is yet to be found. Ivan isn't needed, so again just bring me back some draft capital. Jack Lukosius seems like an okay pickup depending on what we lose to get him. He's not nearly enough to fix that forward line, but he'll help. Bringing Boak back is a joke; will this team never learn about the need for evolution? Nope, keep playing them till they're 60. Dixon should have been dropped out of consideration some time ago; he's just physically past it at this point, but he was a great player for a long time, and my memories of him will be very positive.

Lukoscius can be inconsistent, however this could be the terrible Gold Coast club culture that would kill any passion. Hoping Rozzee motivates him to play well. I dont want Rozzee to cause a love triangle between Jack and Zac. I know how beautiful the relationship between Zac and Connor is.

@@ReneeBella97 It should be ok. I think communication is key. As long as Zac feels included, there’s no reason to think otherwise. I do know Connor and Jack recently had a coffee together. Connor seems to spend a lot of time with his wife as well. But I also noticed Zac hanging out with Drewy a lot at the Brownlow which is good. It’s good to see other people.

The Lukosius trade is actually a good one imo. He's a great forward player and I'm sure he'll make an impact in your forward line. Would that be enough to make your forward line WAY better? Idk. But it's a start. What Port struggle with is that they have no depth, so they could possibly need a rebuild.
@edmonguy

Ken's such a nice man, I really do feel bad about how much I call for his definitive firing, but it's just so clear that he can't win. When the game is big, the club comes out flat... he's never gotten them up and ready for the big games. Ever. When decisions need to be made, he selects Dixon... or Francis Evans... or plays 11 talls up front. When the team needs a plan, well... he's never had one before, so why start now? Port needs so much alteration. Not just Ken, but it really has to start there. This game was unwatchably bad. I'm tired of seeing Port do this year after year after year. 20 years I've been waiting for a list that can compete and a coach who can give them a plan to win and inspire them to play it hard. I have no belief that I'll live long enough to ever see another premiership sadly, because this seems to be good enough for Port management. Another year of Ken, another contract for Ken, more top picks traded away for middling players that can't move the needle, more spots on the list going to old players whose top-22 days are years behind them, and more indifference from everyone supposedly running this team. 🙁 All that said, the list is really dire. Dixon is done, Boak just played one of the worst finals games ever and is also way past done, Esava was so astoundingly bad there are no words, BZK played his worst game of the year, Narkle isn't noticeable, Mead is junk, Frances Evans yikes, Marshall is broken, Georgiades was invisible, it goes on and on. And what seemingly no Port fan wants to admit: the midfield is not great. Rozee is a certainly not a leader and didn't produce much, Butters can't sustain game in and game out, Drew is lukewarm, Wines' best days are not the ones in front of him, and as a group, they're weak. Weak, weak, weak. It's so easy to take the ball away from them, and they're out-competed by everyone. JHF is the only legitimate superstar amongst them. The number two thing no Port fan seems to want to admit: the only way to fix this team is to trade some of these "prized" mids away. Something the team will never do. So next year will be once more to the well, similar season, similar ending. They have no chance. And once they're FINALLY done with Ken a year from now, they'll just go to Carr who is the same thing in a less likeable and credentialed package. My bright spots from the year: JHF is amazing. Sweet looked to be a beast. Visentini is a bit exciting. Rioli is the only player who seems 100% immune to Hinkley's ability to destroy everyone's game. I still have hope for Lord. BZT was generally a pleasant surprise when in a supporting role. Aliir finished well. Heartbreaking year.

It’s the same problem as the last few years. Sh*t coaches with a non existent coaching/skills program. Still with poor skills, poor decision making, no forward craft and fall to pieces when that is exposed. Don’t expect anything different until a new voice, new coaching methods, a proper reserves team is created and a more mature outlook evolves. On the football side of things, the PAFC has some serious structural and behavioural problems.

Its crap how it ended, our old ways lost us the game again. Theres a lot of changes we need to make in the post season, but if we made a prelim with 2 very key players out and a flimsy forward line, next year we should still be up there.

Davis Koch and his self promotional mouth, is the single most disappointing, annoying and most surplus to requirement part of the club. The Club needs to move on from him as he causes more problems than he solves. We are not a big mouth club (Hawthorn Richmond) that walks around town shouting about what we will do, taunting others. We are Port Adelaide and Port Adelaide just quietly achieves greatness. All of this other shit, is just that, shit...

Been watching from Canada as a Port fan for 5 years now and seen a lot of up and downs! Think the biggest thing I noticed from the game was that we didn't even try to enter 50 in a creative way. Clearly bombing deep wasn't working and coming out at half with no change to that strategy seemed weird to me. Love the content though and think with a true target tall and SPP coming back to offer Rioli some actual help in goalkicking up front have another good run at it

Personally I don’t think fans should be too critical of the team. I say it was a great effort to still get to a prelim, by the end players like Dixon, JHF and Butters probably playing injured also losing Marshall and Farrell to injury and Houston to suspension really hurt their chances. At least it wasn’t a straight exit like was predicted.

Yep, our list doesn’t bat as deep. But take a look at how many free hits Sydney have had through their academy….Gulden, Heeney, Mills, Campbell, Blakey, Wicks. That’s a 3rd of their team and some absolute stars. Brisbane…Andrews, Hipwood, Payne, Coleman, Fletcher plus two Pick 1 Father Sons. Dogs have a heap of FS and NGA’s. Pies have a pair of Daicos and Moore The fact that we are up and competing well against these clubs is a credit to the people at the club, players and staff. We have Lachie Jones as an NGA and Burgoyne FS, it doesn’t stack against any of those clubs. We’ve done it the hard way and Ken should actually get more credit. The only other way is to sit at rock bottom for 3-4 years to get the picks. I like our way better, at least we’re a shot.

A super painful game to watch. I knew where it was headed at half time - at least the first quarter it felt even at the contest and had slightly higher stats, just had a few fumbly turnovers. Our forward line and almost every player kicking it inside 50 was terribly connected, I don't think we can just blame the talls for just standing in packs (Sydney's defenders capitalised on this). The thing that hurts to see the most is that we played the most predictable, second rate style of footy in one of the most important games Port has played in years. When you look at coaches like Longmire, Chris Scott and Fagan it's so obvious where our issues are. This game felt like the perfect mix of our game against Geelong and Hawthorn, bound to lose but constantly playing catch up and making everything more difficult than it needs to be.

When will Port realise trading their first round picks has not worked for them. They’ve done it for more than a decade without results. This draft will be their 3rd in a row without a first round pick. With Tasmania 1 year away from diluting the draft pool, it proves extremely poor list manage by the power.
