So many good concepts!! I can’t wait to see all the art you make after you graduate!!!

i <3 textile art! and your concepts are exceptional, love the crochet patterns on concrete and the metal of the tank, something delicate - social rules can be very important, too, especially the brittle ones that make us respect and love each other for who we are - on some of the most sturdy materials, because they need the most support. oh, you can see your work is sparking something already. how wonderful what you are capable of with the work you make with love and your fingers (shout out to your little sister!). don't stop arting, please.

Awesome description of what you’re doing and why; any advice for doing it on fabric? Types of ink to use?
@blakeballardart3 ай бұрын
Hi! You can use specific fabric inks that are made for textiles. One tip is to heat set your ink with an iron, heat press, or dryer before you wash

You’ve done reduction printing without telling your audience that’s what you are doing. That’s really not a basic (beginner) linocut technique.
@zhpDEREK3 ай бұрын
What’s reduction printing?
@blakeballardart3 ай бұрын
Hi! Reduction printing is when you use the same linoleum block for all your layers. Each layer you cut a little bit away from the block to print in a new color and leave the carved parts their previous color.

I love this so much!! How are you finding Glasgow?? I’m trying to decide whether I should commit to Glasgow school of art or Falmouth uni for textile design- I’d love any advice lol
@blakeballardart4 ай бұрын
Hi! Glasgow is a great art city! My postgrad program is pretty independent, so I find myself making opportunities for myself rather than relying on the school. I’ll be heading back to the US after I finish though, Glasgow is not for me long-term 🤷♂️ Good luck!
@quietlyexisting86924 ай бұрын
@@blakeballardart Awh sweet!!! I think my biggest issue with Glasgow is the weather, I swear it is never sunny - how can people exist without sun ?!! Lol

Wouldn’t it be better to make a block for each layer so you can produce them until it wears out?
@blakeballardart3 ай бұрын
That’s a great way of reusing your blocks! I only had the one to work with for this project, so I made it work for two layers :)
