Dude seriously? John Taylor's tone always screamed metal. How you ask? Take his bass tone...add a little hint of Darkglass OD on the top and you have the perfect metal tone. His tone has such clarity and brilliance that overdrives love it.

Hi. I got a few questions. What is the weight of this 5 and the 4 string in your shop? I just got a new 5 string custom bass, so I am not ready to buy right this minute. What is the order time for these:?
@BassBuddha
@BassBuddha 3 күн бұрын
Hey :-) I got two 5's in the shop one weighs 4.15Kg and the other one 4.45Kg. The 4- stringed weighs 3.85Kg. Normally about a year for a Ready To Play Model but Dingwall has been very inconsistent so really can't tell you with the JT3's as it is.

Great tone, nice recording too. Is it straight into a soundcard/mixer or you've mic'd the amplifier?

Thanks it’s actually into a caveman audio BP1 into my Apollo Twin and then a little of the iPhone microphone which does something really together 😎😜

Great amp. As a jazz musician though I’d just like to know why every single KZbin bass player I see only solos over one chord? That’s not how music is played in the real world. I always see bassists just fall apart in jam sessions when they need to improvise over changes. Well not all bassists. The good ones can do it. But c’mon bedroom bassists up your game. At least play over some rock blues changes or something!
@BassBuddha

Hi Bill, I'm not a Jazz musician even though I'm brought up in one Jazz family. I started out as free Jazz drummer 4 years old, no chord changes there either 😁 I tried to play Jazz but it didn't sound right to me and my heart belongs to something else and you are right if you put me in a Jazz jam playing standards I would flunk but good for me and the rest the Jazz community I'm not. To say how music is played out in the real world and be the judge of that seems just incredible narrow concidering how many different genres, cultures, scenes and countries around the world there is. Just doom scroll further if you don't like what I do and then you might stumble upon Giant Steps, then I'll play the same chord until I decide when it's time to change 😎

This is practical playing - I appreciate it. We’ve all seen the videos where 90% of the playing is slapping or high-gain, there’s no value in watching that. I want to learn about the bass from a gigging perspective (slap and high gain don’t go hand in hand with pay-gigs)

Hi, sorry for saying that, but appearently nobody shares a video on the Sandberg VT4 with solid bass playing to show the difference in tone compared to a Jazzbass or a Fender PJ or so. These solo stuff with taping and so on has no use for anybody who is interrested in how these configuration sounds compared to others! Hallo SANDBERG: Ich würde sehr gerne den tonalen Unterschied zur Feneder PJ Config und zur JJ Config erfahren. Und das auf allen vier Saiten und in unterschiedlichen Lagen. Danke!!!

I’ve tried the preamp and it’s nice. But for the price I’ll stick with my Ampeg SCR DI. I’ve used this on tour with The Miracles and it’s a great unit that sounds to me every bit as good as any boutique unit at 2 or 3x the price. . Most of these boutique products are overpriced for the actual audio advantages they give you. Sure they’re good. But in the end a good player is going to sound good because he or she is a good player. And if you do a lot of studio work as I have done over the last 45 years, the sound engineer is going to tweak “your sound” to make it work in the mix. Bass players are notorious for hearing differences that aren’t there or don’t matter, and obsessing over their sound where literally nobody can tell the difference. But once they go down this rabbit hole it’s hard to drag them out of it. Spend more time becoming an accomplished player.

Can I give you just one small piece of advice ? Please use common bass techniques when demo-ing a bass. That’s how we can tell how it will sound in a typical application . Chords , lead solos and otherwise playing it like a guitar might be pretty , but that’s not typical bass technique.
