I saw this at the cinema not long after it was released & I've always loved it. I now have it on Blu-Ray. No CGI or AutoTune, just lots & lots of actual talent. It's a little bit daggy, I'll admit, but there are many greater cinema sins committed today.

Daggy is a great word.

The Bee Gees tried to get out of this film 2 weeks into filming and said this might have been their worst decision ever.

Well I for one liked the movie. I saw it when I was 12 years old in the summertime at both the mall and later the drive-in. The colors, the music, and the hipness of the whole thing was enough to keep me hooked. My older brother even bought the record, and we hung the poster on his bedroom wall. It was just a fun movie for a kid who liked rock and roll and to this day evokes nothing but good memories.

DITTO! My older sister took me to see this film. I was 8 and already a HUGE Beatles fan. This was my introduction to Frampton and the Bee Gee's...believe it or not. I liked all the Beatle originals better of course but thought then all did a respectable job with the music. I never owned the Soundtrack, but remember Barry singing A DAY IN A LIFE, Robin singing OH DARLING, Morris singing FOR THE BENEFIT OF MISTER KITE and multiple songs from Peter that fit well with his voice. I think the screenplay killed this project.....

The best part about the Pepper film is when Aerosmith gets their junky asses kicked by Frampton and the Bee Gees. Truly a priceless kodak moment

The only parts I liked about this movie is how the lead actress sings Strawberry Fields Forever. Kinda reminds me of Carly Simon…..and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (“talk about Luc-eh.”) 😂

The cinema snob did a hilarious video about the sgt pepper movie. It's way more entertaining than the actual movie itself

Haha. The thumbnail artwork is disconcerting as the accuracy of the facial features captures about 20% of each one’s actual features; but most of the features are altered enough that they resemble alter personas, not the actual individuals. (The poster in the Sgt. Pepper album is also an illustrates version of them… but their faces look just like the real guys.)

Yeah, I did a bad illustration :)

In 2000 or so, I saw Peter Frampton in concert (Orange County, CA). Bare bones, him and three other musicians. AMAZING! He sounds incredible LIVE.

DelVecchio is a master of reusing footage--I just watched his Cries of the Unborn and it's weirdly a clip show of the life zone in which the life zone footage is used as if it were real footage recorded by the people who kidnapped pregnant women to make them have babies (i.e. not in hell) and a woman on a jury tries to argue that kidnapping pregnant woman is self defense. IT IS WILD.

“Skullduggery” is not nearly as similar to “Mazes & Monsters” as I would have liked. I do like the scene where Adam says “I wanna play the Warlaaaaaaack.”

Having seen both films, Concorde Affaire feels like the actual sequel to Airport 77 since it takes itself seriously while Airport 79 feels like random wtf laugh fest and I love seeing Charo for her brief moment. Btw…Concorde Affaire is now available here in KZbin with no screming Russians lmao 🤣

Oh, one more thing worthy of mention. I listened and enjoyed the entire hour of your podcast and am elated yet puzzeled to report that I was not interrupted by a commercial the entire time. At the end I expected to see another commercial but no.NONE! I've gotten into a commercial free zone. I even REstarted the podcast and have listened to about 10 minutes now with still no commercials. I think maybe KZbin is trying to get my paid subscription by showing me how good it can be. Any waaaay.Thought you my find this interesting. Somebody enlighten me , please. 🍒

Hello! Is any one there? The reason I ask is that this audio was posted in 2017 and yet there were absolutely zero comments posted here, and yet there are 42 subscribers. I don't think i've ever seen Empire Records but by your commentary here it sounds like a movie i would enjoy. However the reason I came here has to do with a review of HALLUCINATION NATION that I read this morning on IMDB. The review was written by BandSaboutmovies. I thought that I might find you here and wala! Here you are...maybe? Anyway I hadn't watched that movie either and wound up reading your review there in a round about way after watching the movie BEAT GENERATION which is full of interesting stuff that I had not known before. I enjoyed the review you wrote about HN especially your comments other movies and actors which/who were connected to the film. I could tell you are a true movie lover and that I might enjoy reading other reviews that you have written. I hope that you guys are still alive and well and find this comment interesting. Let me know if you still exist if you can. 🍒Thanks,🍒

Good episode. I picked up the DVD from the library before listening to this and . . . I am with Becca . . . solid "D." I watched H20 on a date night in the theatre...and yeah....this is the same plot as H20. All these movies . . . sequels, reboots, reimages...wipe the slate clean...forget all the other movies before this one . . . bla, bla, bla . . . this is the "true sequel to the first movie" . . . when a film comes with "instructions" and "rules" for watching . . . ARGH, i give up. I always felt the '78 original was a Giallo homage by Carpenter (although that was not the producer's intent who hired him) with all it's elements . . . and that giallo charm is absent from this one. I always wonder what would have been if Anne Lockhart had gotten the role as rumored. Would she have done this sequel? Wouldn't it have been cool if Amy Steel or Suzie Amis had been the '78 Laurie Strode? They would have been perfect for the role. "What are you doing with fish oil?" Haaaaaa~
