Once we look at Oxford Handbook of Ordoliberalism we can say that that it is heavily influenced by German tradition and conservatism. Schmittian thought of decisionism is also effected Ordoliberalism if we look much deep. So, we can say that Ordoliberalism is not that 'liberal'.

I don't think it's entirely fair to compare Latin America with Europe. It seems to me that Latin America kind of parallels Southeast Asia more, especially the Philippines. I think the fact that the recent successes of East Asia is a much bigger indicator of Latin America falling behind than the 19th century divergence.

Thank you for this video but I had to stop watching after 4 min. She said "ah" way too many times, sometimes more than 3 times a single phrase.

The professors didn't understand the question. I am talking political fragmentation in Spanish America vs Brazil or the USA or Canada. There was not a big demographic center and the geographical barriers were bigger in Spanish America.

32:30 I think some exceptions should be made: the military regime in Chile set solid foundations for economic growth. The Brazilian military government didn't do it that bad either, as far as I know. The Peruvian and Argentinean military regimes were disastrous indeed.

The end of the import substitution strategy was a good thing for the region. It proved to be totally ineffective to improve social and economic welfare. Another remarkable thing was the decline of state-owned enterprises, which frequently ended up as sources of inefficiency and corruption (maybe this is not valid in other parts of the world, but in LATAM definitely this was the case).

56:20 These figures speak of a disastrous economic administration. It is impossible not to think what could have happened to Chile if those policies would not have been reverted. Maybe we would see a very different country today.

Hi! I don't mean to be mean and maybe it was too personal of an impression, but I was wondering if I could offer some feedback. The lecture was very informative and the lecturer clearly knew his way around the subject, but it was hard to follow at points. I was wondering if it would be possible to have him give the lecture in Spanish and then offer simultaneous translation (as it was done in the BR independence lecture) in future cases. It'd also be great if we had access to both the original audio and the simultaneous translation in those cases. Again, great content! If this suggestion isn't viable, the content is still worthwhile. Very grateful that you're making this available to everyone!

Would you be happier if instead of some rich and many poor, all were poor. That would be equality at 100%
