The history part in the beginning is almost correct. It was the first bridge to get a patent for reinforced concrete in 1875 called, cement armé in French and translated to ferro cement. Guess what, that's reinforced concrete to most people around the world a generation or two later, and the way we build everything.

It could be any nail of course. The thing with the nail is that the head, pushed like a plow below the surface while the material is still quite wet leaves the wonderful "curly" edges to the "bark" as it makes the grooves. I often twist the nail shaft to and fro as I'm pushing the head which can help distribute the "plowed" material to right or left side of the "grooves" and create randomness. I discovered this as the method that was likely used when they were first made.

What is it that makes the roofing nail special over another nail or tool. Can you explain please? Perhaps show a picture of the nail Terry used?
