Excellent work! Photos of the Missouri in Pearl Harbor show that the .50 machine guns are black. Their mounts are gray. 👍

In the Navy we have a routine each Friday called “Field Day .” This is where we scrub down the ship, from top to bottom, to ensure that the ship remains safe and ready for action. We also paint the ship when needed to keep rust away.

Yea had a hunch that it wouldn’t be dirty looking. I’m guessing this it how the ship will look on a Thursday before the scrub. 😂 In an attempt for realism I failed. I just wanted the detail to pop out more. 😩

This is a late war version of Missouri. She did have radar in WW2 and those radars you are pointing out are Mk37 fire directors. Apart from the radar arrays which changed to a dish they are pretty much the same today as 1945. She also had larger radars on the towers as well as the big rotating array on the main amidships tower and behind the rear funnel. I've been watching your build and its been inspiring me to do a highly detailed 3d model of the modern USS Iowa. Different ship, same idea, different medium, when you don't have a kit to go from it takes a lot of research and videos like yours are hugely helpful. Thank you!

So it wouldn’t be painted in camouflage? I’ve seen a really cool camo pattern from 1945 with black whit and grey waves throughout the hull and I was thinking of doing it like that. But if it isn’t historical accurate I don’t know if I’m gonna do it. Thanks for the information tho. Really appreciated it. 🫡 Also thank you very much. Ik really happy if my videos can inspire. Not only would that be appropriate but Measure 32/22D was unique to Missouri and by far it's most famous camo pattern.

So it wouldn’t be wrong? I can only see some of the camo pattern and not seeing it from the bow and down from an angle, so I don’t know what it would look like from a side view perspective. I’ll give it a go 👌🫡 Thank again for the info. 🫡🙌

Yes it’s Tamiya TS32 I think. The color that matches the ships resl color best. However I’m also using Occres paints thinned down to airbrush. I’m gonna delete this video now, and re-upload, as the format kinda of sucks in this one. So this comment will be deleted and it’s nothing personal. 🫡👌

@ I was thinking the assembled models must take up a bit of space. Now that you mention it, I guess I have both questions. Do you sell assembled models, and is this any part of your livelihood beyond KZbin?

I have collaboration with Occre to build their models on KZbin to show to people, both the ship and the build process. Kind of like “how to” with details. I don’t normally sell the ships once they’re done, some I give away and there’s a museum next to where I live I can donate too, so they will be on display. I’ve also given ships to nursing homes etc. it’s only a few models I keep for myself and some are to big to be kept. I’ve never really sold one of my ships, as I don’t know what to charge for them. 😄

Hiya. Yes, this is a 1/200 scale wooden kit from Occre. All the PE is supplied in the kit alongside everything else you need to build this behemoth 😁🫡

@ no problem mate. In my description below the video, there’s a link that will take you straight to the model on the Occre webpage. It’s an awesome kit, and if I tried a little harder I could have made the lights work. Ie using fiber cables as one in the comments suggested.
