@mehXyaXmeh11 жыл бұрын
i have seen kanekalon at sally's but i've only seen natural colors there and while sometimes that's what i'm using, i mostly only use colorful colors so i don't buy from them.
@mehXyaXmeh11 жыл бұрын
from one bag of kanekalon you can get about 8-10 dreads about sharpie thickness

It's funny that you say you can't get the kanekalon hair at Sally's (a few comments down), because that's exactly where I got mine. It's a natural color, but still it came from there. Anyway, great tutorial! I'm gonna give these a try when my fun colors arrive. Thanks!

what kind of comb are you using to backcomb?
@mehXyaXmeh11 жыл бұрын
i've never tried using an iron, but with a flat iron one of the problems is that it can make the dread flat if you don't like twist it around the dread as your steaming so i imagine if you used an iron it'd just make the dread flat.

the brand i use is shark. there's different models. the handheld ones are convenient and the ones i prefer using to a stand up steamer. conair is also a good brand.

online somewhere, just google dread comb and you'll find it ;)
@mehXyaXmeh12 жыл бұрын
yes, you can also use a wet cloth and flat iron method. you get a wet washcloth, drape it over the dread and then use a flat iron on the wet cloth, it steams the dread and works just as good, just takes a bit longer :)

I don't have a steamer. are there any substitutes?

for steaming if your not melting the end...how do you know when your done and it will stay?
@mehXyaXmeh12 жыл бұрын
with this type i only steam the end of the dread, ive never done the boil method but i have used a steamer (obviously lol) and a flat iron over a wet cloth. they both work great. flat iron method is a little more time consuming though

you can get the hair at beauty hair supply stores (not sally's) or you can find it on various websites, google "kanekalon hair" and you will find lots of places to buy from

ive never backcombed natural hair, sorry. although i've heard taking a really small crochet hook works really well to dread up your natural hair.

I've never had success in steaming dreads. I typically boil. Would that be recommended with this type?
