Not being rude just my view. But on other teams atmospheres, its not going to be amazing because they are playing Bournemouth. I might be wrong but other fans will look at that game and not be up far it. Unless its at the end of the season and something is riding on it.

Great keeper. For those that didn't know: Born in South Africa, moved to NZ age 4, grew up with his twin brother playing indoor football (which is exactly why he's so comfortable passing and playing out with his feet). Hope to see him starting at the Olympics in late July.

Saints, Phoenix and NZ fan here but absolutely think he could start this coming or next season and the stats prove it. He prevented 13 goals v xG this season, 5 penalty saves, top 5% percentile GK under the high ball and crosses and as we know, unbelieveable on the ball. If he is leaving, I hope it's Hibs for 38 games in the premiership. Especially because I feel like Neto is on the way out.

Why are they always messing around with goalies? We havee Travers who is currently the best but they don't hardly play him. Neto is suitable as a back up and there are two other goalies in the first team.

Gooner here watching your match day assessment for the first time. Really interesting to find out how a visit to The Arsenal is for you wonderful away fans and it was good to hear you had an experience. Great listen and reasonably fair marks. Thought you were a bit tough on the atmosphere comparing it with last season because when we played Bournemouth we were top of the league for the first time in years and were 2 nil down! As home fans we had to give everything to spur our team on, it was a very special comeback and to win with the final second of the match was incredible and the atmosphere demonstrated the euphoria we were in! As for the journey you ought to look at driving all the way, would have been quicker and cheaper than your route and you would have avoided trains, the congestion charge and parking can be pre booked 10 minutes from the ground or in one of the many residential streets making it a nice walk in. Check it out next time!

It's expensive, but there are some good food options in the Emirates if you walk around to the right block. Might not be possible if you're an away fan, but there's a few Prime Burger bars that do a really good gourmet burger and seasoned chips for around £14.

As a fellow die hard Dorset born Cherries fan, now based just above Welly in NZ, I've been down to see the Phoenix play a couple of times this past season and one of the big talking points me and my friends discussed coming away from the last game was how impressed we all were with Paulsen - he is the real deal for sure and I hope he does indeed get his chance with us. He is confident, commands well and I'd feel far more confident with him between the sticks than Neto agogo oh no or Travers. UTCIAD! and Back of the Net!

One thing I would like to know from a Bournemouth perspective is why you hate Southampton so much? I know you've got to have someone to hate, but didn't Saints over the years help save your club?? I'm pretty sure I've heard that Saints fans used to travel to Dean Court to boost attendances, and even played friendlies against you with no cost to help you get money from boosted ticket sales! I know that the media makes it out to be more than it is, but some fans seriously hate Saints! To hate the club that potentially saved you financially more than the club whose fans destroyed your town seems absurd IMO! Almost seems disrespectful towards Southampton, when they could have not bothered and let AFCB fall away. That''s my personal opinion, but it'd be interesting to see if other Cherries fans agree? Always enjoy this videos despite the dislike for Southampton!

Of course, Cherries fans are thankful for it, but the more that time goes on, it feels a bit like Antony Worrall Thomson lecturing Gordon Ramsey that he is only where he is today because he had a couple of sit down meals at his cafe when he was starting out. Simplistic view I know, but times do change, as, in the same breath, many Cherries fans have moved on from the Leeds hooligan issue - it is very much a generational thing. From an entirely selfish perspective, Leeds coming up would have benefitted AFC Bournemouth more - in order for us to create a bigger footprint, get more footfall, have more interest from floating voters in the area (as we ourselves came to realise through the nineties and naughties), and ultimately, attract more businesses and sponsors. That said, Leeds possibly have a better chance of staying up - so maybe it is a good thing. Truth is, I'm not sure as many Cherries fans care as much as much as the Twitter banter suggests, but we're loud enough - it seems - to come across like we do. We know your focus is Pompey, which is fine - it's historical and has years of background. If we are in a position to keep "building" a rivalry though, then we know we are in a good place.
@TheOpinionatedSaint
@TheOpinionatedSaint 2 күн бұрын
@@afcbpodcast Understood! I can see how Leeds could have helped you if they had gone up. Certainly for the next few decades I don't think there will ever be a mutually accepted rivalry because people remember the Bournemouth of old who we helped to save (personally I think Saints did more than 'lecture' Bournemouth, but appreciate your view point) and used to cheer on when scores were read out at half time. Only way I personally see it developing is not playing Pompey for a long long time, and Southampton fans getting annoyed with Cherries fans dismissing the idea we helped them. I guess it could turn out similar to Hertha and Union in Berlin though (Hertha fans helped Union build their stadium when the wall was up, and Union have since completely disregarded Hertha's help which has created a fierce rivalry between some fans (again though, understand that the majority of Cherries fans do still appreciate the work of Southampton)). Thanks for replying, interesting to see the view point of the other side!

Enjoy this sort of content. Even as a neutral, I find myself scoring them as well. Question for you: I think quality of team coming up are much better this year and it’s going to be much harder season. Not only that, but I think other than top 3, league was pretty weak this season (my team West Ham only winning 4 league games Dec to May and still finishing ninth) do you agree?
