I was watching Mike's fight vs Brett Martinez at Belator and it looked like he submitted him using part of a technique he taught us in class tonight where he pulled Brett from the cage and took his back. That was pretty cool to see it used in a fight.

is giving up the back a common reaction to inside senkaku?

The most used escape includes turning away yes, and you are kinda forced to use it as long as your second leg is still free. Gary was one of the first to transfer from upper to lower body submissions, now people get better at leglocks so he turns it around. Here he transitions right into the kimura trap position which often results in backtakes.
@timtaylor95905 жыл бұрын
@@MatrixJiuJitsu yea if the heel isnt caught that would be the direction to turn out. but instead of spinning all the way through u can actually turn out to escape the knee and then turn back in to take the leg lockers back like pena did with gordan ryan. maybe the difference here is he controls the top position in order to reach for the kimura. idk i'v never seen this in competition.
@MatrixJiuJitsu5 жыл бұрын
@@timtaylor9590 I´ve never seen anybody except Pena hitting that backtake. My favorite counter in the early Stage is something that Eddy Cummings does but seems to still pretty underground lol. Most People still rotate with the escaper to get the heel in the middle of the rotation and then finish.
