By the way you don't have to spend a lot of money to obtain quality sound! its all about system matching! Bravo!!

I appreciate real reviews as just let the music play! Your reaction was real, most videos don't play music, just talking points and ego with offerings of tee shirts, like no one knows who they are! Why would anyone buy their gear? First impressions can be great, this is an old video, I'm sure after some burn in its even better sounding! Cables are most important, assuming it cost you over $2000 USA, another $600 would boost the sound quality quite a bit! Thank you for sharing!

Have you thought about speaker stands? This time last year I set up my first hifi system. I purchased around 5k worth of equipment and looked at every possible reasonable aspect to achieve the best sound quality I could get from my hardware and I am so so pleased with my results. Stands will help with resonance as there's all sorts of vibrations going through those wooden cabinets hooe this helps. Sounds nice through my system I will be fair.

What connector do you use that plugs into the back of the Rega IO? A RCA cable of some form?

Hey Peter, nice amp,nice speakers. I've the Dali Oberon 5 floorstanding speakers, playing with a vintage,completely restored Sansui AU-505,sounds very nice. It's about 2x 25 watt. But i want something modern and smaller. So a Rega IO or a Brio. I live in a small apartment(30m2),that's why.
@peterodonohue3 жыл бұрын
Maybe the Brio, but I don't really know. I'm loving my iO and I've moved to a bigger space with no neighbours so I can turn it up, and the iO is great for that! 😜

I have the same speakers 👍. I use an Arcam FMG A19 amp, Audiolab 8200cdq, Marantz Cd63 mkii Ki signature edition and two Rega Planner 3 Turntables with them. If you check What hifi's you tube video of your speakers they recommend the Arcam amp and Audiolab cd player. You can hear my system on my channel too and I have listed all my gear in my video descriptions. 😉

If you have Tidal master account: What is the settings inside of Tidal with Mojo with win10 program you have? There are 3 boxes: Use Exclusive mode Force volume Passthrough Mqa If I have all boxes unchecked then blue 192kHz color. If I add the box Use Exclusive Mode, then the color becomes red 44kHz but sounds like more volume / once the Song is restarted color becomes Green 96kHz. If I have only Passthrough mqa then it is blue 192kHz but assume the Mojo doesn't have the Mqa ungolding so this box for us is point less. Any ideas?

In my living room I have lots of guitars, I noticed you have a couple of acoustic guitars there too, wrap a scarf or find something to stop the strings ringing, you'll notice it after a loud piece of music followed by silence. I have an ibanez with a spring loaded tremolo, it rings like a bell 🤨

Bottle that feeling. Once you start upgrading the magic rarely comes back. Maybe add a streamer instead of the phone and you’ll have a great system for years to come.

@@peterodonohue what music service do you use? I use Spotify personally, sounds good and connects to everything easily. Cromecast audio £30 is ok audiowise and very cheap. I use Yamaha products in my two set ups. The Yamaha Wxad-10 £150 is small and very good but won’t use your mojo as it uses an internal dac. (Very good one tho) I use a Yamaha nps303 £280 full size unit that has a built in dac and a digital out you could use with your mojo. Other than that it’s £500 bluesound node 2i.

Thanks for that, yes Spotify is what I'm using. I will eventually add a turntable and cc player. But for now I will probably go with the chromcast audio. Thanks again. 👍

@@peterodonohue finding some good quality flac music linked to that mojo should already give you a nice jump in quality from spotify. You can find some free flac tracks online or if you have CDs you can turn them easily into flac from a pc with foobar2000.

What an extraordinary achievement it is to take a song that tactless (if not downright idiotic) people sometimes refer to as "an old hat" and make it more vibrant and beautiful than ever before. What a stunning rendition!

Thanks for your comment. That was a great night of craic and good music. Actually, there is a patriotic background story to The Last Rose of Summer. Like most of Moore’s songs, this song is full of metaphors...and meaning.
