This presentation is great until Josh, um, basically, um, starts, essentially, um, talking and not, um, explaining, basically, anything.

Great video! But perhaps one things I don't agree with is to make application aware of kubernetes. Typically you want your apps to be k8s agnostic so you shouldn't have to make app changes for k8s specifically.

At minute 16:45 you show the argocd UI. Where does the "Promotions" feature in the Left menu come from? Installed the exact same ArgoCD version, but I don't have that feature? What do I miss out?

As much as I'd like to know what all of you are talking about cause that's a lot of smarts, suoet awesome, why is my phone's info even coming up on your website?? I don't know how to read or write a code, have never received any financial support from my videos and pictures, and also am not sure why every phone I buy always have like 4 ip addresses already attached. My name is Kasheena, I live in Missouri, and I'm simple, play piano and encourage ppl, money I could care less about but I definitely do not steal or rob ppl. I've been a stay at home mom for years and what ever this is has caused some series problems for me I mean very bad even the life of a child bein taken, but no justice cause that's how it went down, is it possible someone can build all this on cell phones through wifi connections like Bluetooth transfer. Cause before taking such a drastic step wouldn't it have been easier just to talk. I may not be smart but I'm dedicated to helping ppl especially when there being treated wrong, but I hope next time any type of situation like this rises up you guys handle it just as smooth as you did this time

How would the auto deployments and rollouts work. We don't always deploy into one cluster. If there are 50 customers and they are all having flux installed, how is to auto deploy a function changes there? We use Helm for our deployments

I find it odd that there is a certification for GitOps. Similar to there being a certification for deploying applications. I think GitOps is something every Kubernetes user needs to be able to comprehend. A certification on one hand formalizes the syllabus, but it make it feel more out of reach. It may create a tendency for bloat - because what is a certified GitOps professional going to do with his time?

The good part of this tool is the extensible plugin. You can create your own plugin just like Backstage. Very close to Internal Developer Platform concept where developer can build and customize any UI page that they want to present in Headlamp

I've only read and watched the stuff re. Nix and sorry, but it's 100% FUD. Has the speaker even read the Nix articles they link in the slides!? Of those, 3/4 use dockerTools (AFAIK "the ONE WAY to build Docker images in Nix"), which the speaker also links in the slide (the official doc). The 1/4 is Mitchell Hashimoto's article in which he offers a (pretty nice) and "easier" alternative. And he actually lists some downsides to his method WHERE HE EXPLICITLY MENTIONS dockerTools as the idiomatic way to build them "better"! I'm surprised at the audacity to give a talk and joke & badmouth something by quoting stuff that the speaker clearly hasn't even read, let alone understood. I really hope they install Nix (simply curl|sh) and try the examples from the docs mentioned. Nix is definitely not easy, I just begun playing with it and I'm no expert. But IMHO it's quite mind blowing how awesome it is in general, and especially to build OCI images, like the Xe Iaso's talk/post quoted actually said. P.S. I called it out on Twitter as well, but commenting also here for completeness. Hopefully people will read the comments and won't be misguided by the content of the talk!

Robert, very well done condensing 30 minutes talk to 5 minutes. Engaging and effective. Reminds me when I had to condense a successful elevator pitch in 2004 at ETRE in Berlin (which provided us for the needed funding for our joint effort at Continuent) from 5 min to 1 min.
