Reminds me of the heavy distortion of Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky" from the late 60's. I've heard a story, that while on the way to record it, a guitar head stock ripped through a speaker cone while in the back of their station wagon sedan, but they decided to use it just the same. Very unique tone!

Bought one today. Not really based on this demo. But I did like the demo. It was nice of you to do it for us guys out here in recording land. I thought it was funny, here's the treble. lol Now when you turn up the treble you now here all the string buzzing. I dunno if that's funny to you, but funny to me as a sound guy. I would think, turning the bass knob up, turning the mids down a bit. And leaving the treble in the middle. I don't think that treble control will matter much in a mix. Anyway just nice to have a pretty good amp with the Ashdown tone. In ... a practice situation. I was planning on taking the DI out, and running that into a separate cab with my class D power amp for live volume. So ya, in my opinion, it gives you options, and a nice sound. Not just saying that. I own the rack pre which is the same I assume.

@@albertorigonibassist It's going to be a few weeks until I get the little stubby. However in the meantime, I came up with a great recording tone using the Ashdown rack preamp. From what I can tell is the same pre that's in the little stubby. What I did to warm up the sound is I replaced the 2 JJ 12AX7s with two brand new Tungsol 12AX7s, and replaced the no name 12AT7 with a new Electro-harmonixs AT7. The AT7 I believe runs the effects loop. So that is not going to affect the initial tone. So if you buy the little stubby. I'd recommend swapping the two JJs with Tungsol 12AX7s. So from there, I ran the DI out into an API 3122v, and API SR22 compressor. This a great studio sound. I'm not sure you'd want to add an IR cab. I like it just the way I did it. Pretty cool. You can actually avoid alot of string/fret buzzing by turning down the treble eq knob on the Ashdown. So when the actual stubby comes in, I'll report back. I'll probably run the amp output into my Ox box, and blend with a mic of the cab. A warrning, I found the preamp tubes were hard to take in and out. I was going to go NOS. But, I was afraid I'd have a hard time getting those out. I would think the four JJ EL84s power tubes would be fine. I've never had a problem with those in the power section od any amp. These tubes are on a small circuit board. You have to hole the bass of the tube socket with your forefinger, and squeeze with your thumb to install a tube.

Many complain about the Ultra Jazz Bass V because its B and G strings are too close to the edge of the neck. Does this really cause problems while playing?
