I turned 40 this past November. I saw the Nickelodeon rebranding at the park felt a Twinge of Sadness that Camp Snoopy is no longer there. I was about 9 or 10 when I first went to the Mall of America. So I'm happy I got the experience I did. To me, I felt it was time to let the Little ones of Today to make their own fond memories. Camp Snoopy May be gone from the Mall of America, but will never be forgotten.

Isn't something from Camp Snoopy still there? I could have sworn the Dog bowl remained in its place for a while.

Grew up in suburban Minneapolis in the 90s and 00s. MOA was larger than life as a young kid, it was like a whole world in itself. Every time we went we would make a whole day out of it, Orange Julius, Legoland, Camp Snoopy and Johnny Rockets or One Potato Two were always part of the trip. Pepsi Ripsaw, Mystery Mine Ride, Screaming Yellow Eagle and the Log Flume were ridden every time at least once. My sister and I would be dog tired by the end of the day and all the walking we always did. Even being dragged into department stores that my mom would want to slowly browse through was much more tolerable during an MOA trip than at the local Ridgedale mall.

Mystery mine ride was the best also! Now there’s flying over America which honestly was really amazing!

My Dad actually did some of the remodeling a while back, I don’t remember when. (I’ll ask him tomorrow) but he wrote on one of the metal pillars to show he was the one who did it. It’s painted over now unfortunately but he’s stil proud of it. ❤ not because of getting rid of camp snoopy, but just because it was his work.

Okaaay! Um. I love you first for all. I went to camp snoopy all the time with my aunt when I was younger. And this video has brought back so many memories. The snoopy jump house? I lived there. That was my home, and the Pepsi riptide. Wait is that what it was called? My millennial brain is overwhelmed 😂 Anyway, My favorite was always ghost blasters! My aim was HORRIBLE! But I didn’t care! Thank you for this video! Seriously! ❤

34, Minneapolis native. When I was a kid my friends and I would go just for the mystery mine ride, like go on it a dozen times in a row. Although I had aged out of it when the peanuts theme died, it broke my heart to see it change.

The Log Chute is still running, so at least there’s one thing from the Camp Snoopy era.

Paul Bunyan is still present. He’ll always be there. Unfortunately the Pepsi Ripsaw Coaster was renamed. That was the highlight, along with Paul Bunyan’s Log Chute.

My bestie Martha went here in 2002, when she was, like, 13. She rode the Screaming Yellow Eagle and the Mighty Axe, like, a crazy amount of times or something. I got to go to Nickelodeon Universe in, like, 2009 for some reason. It was totes fetch.

Slight correction, Cedar Fair purchased Knott’s (and operations pertaining to both parks) in 1997. When the park first opened in 1992, it was entirely operated by Knott’s, hence why it was called “Knott’s Camp Snoopy” and not just Camp Snoopy. This is how Cedar Fair obtained the Peanuts rights, and was ultimately the reason they were able to add the Planet Snoopy areas to their parks, such as Cedar Point, Kings Island and Dominion, Valleyfair, and others. Still a great mini-documentary though!

Went to Mall of America last week and although I mostly grew up with memories of Nickelodeon Universe, what I really miss is the American Girl doll store being on the edge of the park and visible from all the tall rides. 😢 It really added to the “it’s not a mall, it’s an experience” vibe with the doll hair salon and restaurant with doll tables. 😊❤

I worked at MOA Planet Hollywood 98-00. One of the best times of my life. Servers and bartenders would, from time to time, have our morning meetings on the roller coaster before the park opened.

One of my favorite things about working at camp Snoopy was that we had two crews and one crew was the seasonal college crew that was there for the summer and the other crew was a college crew that was there year around. For example around Christmas the crew that was there year-round could go home to be with family while the seasonal crew came back for the holidays and worked for a few weeks or even a few days. They updated our schedules every semester and were super flexible for college students. We had fun employee parties. They had opportunities to earn Cedar point tickets. They gave us a lot of tickets to valley Fair. Definitely a great place to work well in college

Ok I'm taking a shot at alternate history. What if Camp Snoopy never rebranded? Could Cedar Fair have kept it's relationship with the Mall of America?

Something similar to that happened in the early 2000s Nickelodeon was in kings island kings dominion canadas wonderland etc in the 2010s cedar fair purchased the parks and Nickelodeon central became camp snoopy or planet snoopy

As someone who grew up on Camp Snoopy and would later go on to work as a performer at Nickelodeon Universe, Camp Snoopy was always my favorite! At least the best ride, the Log Chute, has remained throughout all these changes.

I never went to Camp Snoopy, and I hate Nickelodeon, so this is a sad story for me. Nickelodeon doesn't even relate to Minnesota culture whatsoever. Sure, in general, Nickelodeon has a broader appeal and recognition, but I never understood why. I found many of their shows to be ridiculous and stupid. Like, Dora, the Loud House, Sponge Bob, etc.

Awesome job on this video! The original pictures and footage brought back some great memories. I remember my first visit on the 2nd day it was in operation back in August 1992 and it was magical. My kids are now 6 and 4 and while we enjoy visiting the park together I know they would have loved the Peanuts theme. In fact we still refer to it as Camp Snoopy quite often. Thanks for 10 sentimental minutes that brought back some wonderful memories!

I was so scared of the axe ride as kid lol I'm glad I got to do it at least once before leaving Minnesota. The smell of log chute and the mini donuts when walking through the theme front of theme park was great I miss those good times...

This was actually a good maerketing strategy, and all those boomers that are crying about it need to see it that way. Rebranding it to Nickelodeon was even better, since that company has WAY MORE things that pretty much everyone remembered as kids. Such as Ben 10, Spongebob, Dora The Explorer, and more. I think it was a good idea, since you can't do much with Charlie Brown..........

oof this brings a tear to my eye. I'm also from MN, and this was a heavy part of my childhood. I've seen at least 6 arcades come in and out of MoA. Seeing a glimpse of ddr 3rd mix korea version 2 in this video was quite the sight. The Mystery Mine Ride was amazing, and I'm glad I got to experience it growing up. I remember how big this place was as a kid.
