I kind of wish that they'd made Liu Bei's army as a whole gain soldiers and you could just distribute those soldiers between generals so you could use all of the generals throughout the game.

some of the modders made things like that so every general could gain soldiers based on one of the 5 available pools used on the tigers. i think DoaE2 made everyone viable as well by giving them different general pools.
