I know some dude that tried this dumb move. It added 85.000 miles to his car that had only 30.000.. now his resale value is garbage.

I sent my BCM off to get repaired they kept the same info on it just fixed the problems all for a 100 bucks and when I got it back just plug and play everything worked

@@ryannoriega7945 you can find companies online where you can mail it off or you can find some local I did mines 4 years ago but what he's doing that's not programming it just happens to match that's why his is working

The os not reprogaming. Some times you can swap bcms and not have to reprogram as long as the numbers match you can swap out them however the vehicle will have the other vehicles odometer reading so you could have made a golden egg or real bad lemonaid lol. I would say reword it because that will still have to be looked at because if uour car it at 80 k miles or kms. What ever you are and that had 170 k now you have just decreased your car value

I had a retired police 2006 Impala. All I wanted was the dome light to come on when I open the door. I swapped the bcm with one I got from the junkyard. The dome light comes on when I opened the doors but now I have check engine light. The camshaft position sensor and no matter what I did it never went off. Including replacing sensor and erasing the code or even putting the original bcm back in. Also maybe you should have replaced the battery in your fob or reprogram it.

I would think hot swapping a computer like this would create a short because of voltages issues. Sounds very dangerous.
