Beautiful writer, great voice too! Have a feeling a lot of anime writers and directors loved his writing, you can very much see it in 80s and 90s films and OVAs.

If more people would read the books of (D) guy you can't (I) name on here we'd see there's way more evidence now for PKD's visions... I'm honestly surprised the 'skeptics' haven't accused him of plagiarism.

What a horrible environment Berkeley was - leftist totalitarians on all sides, Marxists intolerant of Trotskyites, struggle sessions, etc. He turned out remarkably normal for someone in that hideous fascist environment. That Dick thought he was weak for simply quitting a psychiatrist who was a narcissistic bully rather than starting a conflict...quitting is the healthiest thing to do.

Another method for dealing with the death anxiety on the come up is not battling it by trying to convince yourself that you're gonna be fine, but to simply believe it and accept that you're gonna die. Then, when you don't, the magic starts to happen. Or even when you "do die", you get resurrected. What a neat trick.

EXACTLY!!! THATS HOW IT IS! YOU HAVE TO TAKE ENOUGH! OTHERWISE YOU'LL FUCK YOURSELF UP! If you don't take enough you'll not reach the otherside, instead you remain stuck a middle world, but you'll not go through the "portal". And that creates fear and confusion.

I completely understand his views on "not liking being told what to do" I told my parents that when I was in elementary school, told my dad that I hated people telling me what to do. he said "you're going to have a hard life then" luckily I developed the much needed skill of "ignoring people"

I think that the purpose of xenon and is not to give answers to questions but to get you to think. Perhaps there are not a single answer that we all will agree on. Perhaps the answers you give are a reflection on the type of person you are and I should reflect on my answers. Of course I could be full of shit. 😎

Astonishing. I wish I could have known him personally. His book VALIS changed me. I can relate absolutely about authority. I got out of top secret spy school, 1979, in a similar, but very different process. When they told me I would go to CIA, I knew lying like that would be insane. So, I told the commander of the school, they picked the wrong job. I left in just 9 months.

What a lot of bullshit. What a lot of blather. It sure doesn't age well. These "gurus of the Haight-Ashbury." That was a nightmare zone a couple years later in 1969 after the so-called "Summer of Love" in 1967 when these "spiritual" charlatans were jumping on that bandwagon.

This is a very interesting interview. I think it is interesting to anybody who likes PKD stories. Also as much as I may sympathize with PKD as a person, and as much as I like some of his books, in this interview he gradually stops making sense. Sounds like he is ranting but it is difficult to understand exactly what he is saying. Sometimes he is very unclear as to what he means. In other parts he just doesn't make sense. In other he jumps from one subject to another. It has to have be the effect of whatever drugs he took.

Jesus is the only way. 1 Corinthians 15 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Peter Orlovsky told me that he and Ginsberg f---ed very young boys, not just adolescents but very young children, like under 10 years old. They would go to places like Morocco because at that time they could get boys real cheap. We were on the SF university campus and he was almost drooling over little children playing on the lawn there and couldn't keep his mouth shut about it. The memory haunts me to this day 40 years later. With a few exceptions the other hippy elders were just as vile.
