I have 100 percent natural never dyed black 4z African American hair. I want to cover a few grey streaks and make them color 7N. Can I just do a foil and deposit this onto my streaks? This won't change my black hair color will it? Just the greys right? Lemme know. I have a cosmetology degree but didn't get my license, I don't work in the business, just want to do it on myself. Thanks.

Question do we need to clarify the hair before applying. Some clients come in with dirty hair will it still cover greys if not clarified or it’s dirty ????

Thank you for this education :). What “Color Gels” color would you use on a level 7, or 8 natural ash blond root, with 30 to 40% grey, with no resulting warmth from the 20 volume developer? Thank you!

Question....I have been using Chromatics on my clients. Since it is being discontinued, I have switched to the gels.( Both oils and lacquers) How do you keep the little grays that like to stand up stay down in the gel? That is really my only issue.

I just used Shades Eq 5na on my gray/white roots and it is INK BLUE!! I now have BLUE roots!! I used the Shades Eq bc I didn’t want to use permanent color bc my hair is bleached to 8/9 level and I trying to avoid damaging w/permanent color bc as the hair grows out I will be bleaching it again. PLEASE HELP!! I don't want blue roots!! Last time I did my roots I tried Shades Eq 6n for root smudge and it was way too red! That's why I dropped a level to 5na, hoping for a more neutral/ash root shade, yet it is BLUE!!

You have to counteract it with a copper/orange. I am not a hair stylist, but just follow the colour wheel. Also, you shouldn't really be colouring with toner if you have a lot of greys. You have to use a permanent with at least a 20 vol.

You have to fill the hair with warmth when there is no warmth present in the hair in order to use cool dark tones

I’m here because I had a client who was 50% grey, so used a 3N 20V 35 minutes and her roots came out lighter than her ends. 😢 she turned to be level 5 instead of 3 😢 do not know why.

In my case I used 6NN with 15 developer on 80% grey roots processed for 15 min and my roots end up black , completely black ; nothing like an 6 level:(

This is just another version of heated deep conditioning but more damaging to the hair. I wouldn't try it.
