Mid to late 90s most of the open toppers were iirc Leyland Olympians, not 100% sure if a couple might have been Bristol VRTs

I love the horn on the 09, it's always better than the usual "peep" whistle on gronks. Great video, I love seeing shunting locos on the odd passenger trains . -bud the painter-

Bloody hell one year after i was born😅 Still do have a few memories of the nse era though when i got a lil older. Miss these days, now everythings all modern and just not fully authentic, but dont get me wrong its nice, but nothing beats the old schl - like music for example

All these trains are gone now. Replaced by the horrendous 22000 Class DMU's. All trains in Ireland were locomotive hauled, even the branch line between Cork and Cobh. The only locomotive hauled trains left now is the Mk4 Intercity running between Dublin and Cork, and the Enterprise running between Dublin and Belfast. All other trains are either a Commuter DMU or an Intercity DMU.

Never saw the "Enterprise" set at Heuston" before, even though parked on a siding. I don't think that it was operational until the following year. Connolly was being renovated in 1997.

Spent years and years going between Kilkenny and Dublin as a kid on the train. Favourite part was the runaround at the end. Shake to see how they've letthe old part of the station fall into ruin. Loved seeing the vid. Pure nostalgia. The noise of the engines was savage.

There is a lot to be said for the old Diesel's, they had character unlike the modern train of which is boring.

Excellent stuff. I used to love traveling on these units from Harrow on the Hill to Marylebone and Amersham. Thundering along at 60-70 mph on the jointed track, interior rattling, engines thrashing away made it feel a lot faster!!

Been to Stratford many times including when my Nan took me on the DLR to Canary Wharf. Not a lot has changed except the station transformation. And it’s such a busy interchange station in East London. Where passengers and commuters swap National Rail (Greater Anglia, TfL Rail & c2c) trains with London Underground (Central & Jubilee Lines), London Overground & DLR. And of course Stratford International station nearby. And the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, Olympic Park and West Ham United football stadium that once held the London 2012 Olympics & Paralympics.

At 2:43 I know which one I'd rather have. I'm 46 and grew up with the class 115 DMUs on my doorstep. West London was a great place in my day.

can remember catching the stopping service from Fareham, to Salisbury ,, changing for warminster, then changing at warminster to get to Plymouth. At the time the Sprinter was a brand new `faster` service,.

haha....no youre right, no one worried. The American "I will sue you" culture has made us so risk averse! Its a lot safer these days, but less 'fun' I suppose. Everyone is so scared of breaking an H&S regulation. But I suppose they are there for our safety, so its no bad thing!
