From this clip Bettany looks like he studied McDowell in A Clockwork Orange. Especially the head slightly down, looking up through hooded eyes, stare.

When the Spectrum Theme kicks in is one of ther hardest switches i've ever heard. The song baits you with a base drop before hand, so it comes back around as this fucking excellent surprise.

I was a boy way back when this was first transmitted. The way the music just kept getting louder, until the Spectrum boys and Angels were all holding their ears and beginning to panic was actually terrifying. Highly unexpected, but familiar, as there questions in parliament at the time about pirate radio stations on ships outside the control of the dead hand of government. I recall one of the Angels managed to intercept a satellite from within the atmosphere. Give that girl a promotion and a medal, at the very least.

I just wish this show had had some sort of coherent ending. But as an allegory of the Cold War which was ongoing at the time, I guess they couldn't do that.

Straight copy of 'Yojimbo' by Kurosowa. If you like Fistful of Dollars, do watch Yojimbo. Morricone so freaking good though. Is it just me or is Indio one of the coolest badguys ever.

Jack shouldnt have died at the end. My only gripe with a truly magnificent movie.

I wonder how many people were able to figure out that the hitman ordered by Kinnear to kill Jack at the end was on the same train to Newcastle at the beginning of the film? I didn't quite catch this clue until a second viewing. Subtleties such as this was what made these older movies more interesting.

Two questions I've always had in my mind. First did Kinnear have two American cars, or couldn't the producers get the original one back when they needed it for more shooting and had to get a replacement. Secondly, how on earth did they not realise that the same Land Rover was being used by the crooks and the police, or did they just think an audience wouldn't notice something like that?

Never realized it, but Matt Helm was kind of the evolutionary step between James Bond and Austin Powers. Looks like Mike Myers may have gotten a lot of inspiration.

Great editing really perfect notice the silencer on the pistol at 1:32 -- a silencer won't work on a revolver a silencer only works on an automatic. So many movies and shows made this mistake in the 1960s. With a revolver the Loud Bang! is still heard from the cylinder hole.
