Chromatic octaves have been my early-morning routine for decades. It is a very efficient way to warm up the hand and build strength. But I take the hard road to success: playing the B on the 3rd string instead of the 2nd open. 😉

Play the high E as a harmonic. The stretch is a lot less.
@ClassicalGuitarCorner
@ClassicalGuitarCorner 5 күн бұрын
Thanks, yes, that is certainly an option to consider. It does slightly change the texture of the melody since the harmonic and the fretted note will sound slightly different from one another. Using a fretted note helps maintain that consistency across the whole melody. Thanks again for your comment!
@composerdave68
@composerdave68 4 күн бұрын
@@ClassicalGuitarCornerSometimes the change of texture is exactly why I will play the harmonic. It really kind of depends how I feel in the moment. Sometimes I will play the first time through with the fretted note to put the singing vibrato on it then in the repeat I will hit the harmonic and dig into the rest to give it more fire. And sometimes I do vice versa. I’d recommend people learning both ways to add to the possibilities of both. But if someone just can’t get the stretch, the harmonic will get you through until you can get it.
@ClassicalGuitarCorner

@@composerdave68 Certainly using each method once on each repeated passage can be a good approach as it's always helpful to think about how to create variety on repeated material. Thanks again for your comments.

@@ClassicalGuitarCorner do you plan on having a follow up of this video? or this was a one off? i think it would do well , i am sure i am not alone on being super interested with learning fundamentals , but do not have the means to have a teacher or the "ability" to learn the academic way. I know i do better with videos , not all , but your format and way of explaining really work well for me at least , it's clear , not too long so i can digest smaller amount of info at a time . In any case keep up the good work , really appreciated!!

I did this for “the gran tremolo” by Tomas damas . It’s weird and lengthy way of learning a classical guitar piece. But the repetition of the end just sticks with you so much when I played it for me college final. I stumbled quite a bit but at least I had a very strong ending 😂❤
