It's a goth subgenre. (I'm goth.) I think darkwave is a fair categorization. (I don't find arguing over categories useful.) If you expand slightly beyond the strict ballad format of this song (one of my favs), there are other songs may as examples of this corner of the universe. Two years late reply. While I agree with you. The "original" piece (Which Orochimarus theme also seems based on) is the classical "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" (by Bach).
