PLEASE help. Right where you insert the anode rod, there is a metal clip or o'ring. Mine completely rusted out! I've searched the internet for that, but no luck. Anyone know where to get one?
@toddtt13 ай бұрын
There shouldn't be an O'ring. The threads with Teflon tape should be what seals it up. I did not have a clip or O'ring. Best of luck!

Just got off the phone with Dometic trying to diagnose an issue as the bowl won’t hold water after replacing the seal. They acknowledged a manufacturing issue but won’t do anything about it. The two parts with the issue cannot be replaced and said the entire toilet would need to be replaced, at my expense. Basically, it’s a throw away POS! I’m shocked by their arrogance!

Great video. I am facing the same problem. Hydraulic leak that has pooled under coroplast. My slides still work but the leak seems to be getting worse. Question. I assume that the slide outs and leveling jacks are all on the same hydraulic system and use same pump and reservoir. If so, how do you make sure that the jacks don’t move when you are working on the slide out cylinders?
@toddtt15 ай бұрын
Hi there...on my system (and on most), the hydraulics do share the same pump and reservoir. However, there are a set of valves called hydac valves which control where and when the fluid moves. As long as those valves are working correctly, they will prevent the jacks and other cylinders from moving.

Is it a standard fitting on all RVs? I just ordered the Camco Aluminum Rod. Are the threads on the water heater METAL or TEFLON? Can we use vinegar or CLR to help clean the threads with a stainless steel brush?
@toddtt16 ай бұрын
Fittings are standard. The threads are all metal. Not sure about the vinegar or CLR but that should work.

You did a real disservice by acting like the factory hose clamp seal was simple to remove… opened two knuckles and still can’t get it off. So much for doing this on my own

Very cool video. Workin' on my girlfriend's 96 Rexhall. She got it about 5 years ago with 26K on it but I don't think the previous owners did any of the type maintenance you demonstrate here ...on any of the features that require it. I'm a retired mechanic... I thought! But this rig is keepin' my chops well greased🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the tips! Can always learn something new!

Just bought a motorhome with an 11 year old Suburban. Pulled the anode - absolutely nothing on the steel pin core but rust! Possibly never been changed, certainly not for quite a few years. Lots of calcium buildup visible so I'll try filling the tank with vinegar and leaving for a long time (maybe 24 hours). So frustrating that people neglect simple maintenance and possibly ruin an A$1100 appliance.

I’d try spraying some PB Blaster on the threads and let that soak for 30 minutes. That stuff usually helps free up stuck metal. Good luck to you.

Always use the second screw on the bottom of the valve. It really holds the valve in place securely. Without the second screw, the valve when literally move, and you can see it moving when the flush pedal is depressed.

Great vid👍 Question- how did you retract and extend just the one piston?
@toddtt12 жыл бұрын
Near the hydraulic pump there should be valves which you can close or open. Use these valves to shut off flow of hydraulic fluid to the other pistons leaving only the one you want to move in the open position. My valves are little round knobs which can be screwed in or out.
@debjulmar2 жыл бұрын
Excellent video. One thing I do on screwing in anything as in the case of the anode rod is to turn the screw or rod counter clockwise and feel the threads catch. Then continue screwing it in. This will ensure the threads aren't cross threaded.

Every time I do that, someone over my shoulder tells me to turn the other way.
