I think the single biggest issue with all the major boat manufacturers is that they commonly use minimum wage unskilled labour for the fit out component of the build so have a constant turn over of staff who never really get better at it. In regards to the dissimilar metals corrosion issue I don't think they give a rats, bedding and use of tef gel takes time and money and the results of not using it don't really turn up until after the warranty period or can be blamed on the owner not carrying out "preventative maintenance" whatever that means.

To confirm tour saying the steel washes of easy with chemicals like salt wash/detergent. I`ve rang the rep and he said SS was harder to remove and dried out far better vs the HD vers..
@WildHuntFishing6 ай бұрын
I can confirm hd works way better on galv trailers! Steel seal was a waste of time.
@paulthompson16546 ай бұрын
@@WildHuntFishing Does the H/duty version take at least a few days to get even partially dry ???. The rep said it takes a while to get to 80-90% dry He said thats why for 4wd he recommends the SS product because it dries fully . . Q/ is the Steel Steal alot thinner vs HD ????
@WildHuntFishing6 ай бұрын
Hd is thicker with a slight yellow tinge, takes about a week to dry but still remains tacky. Bull dust and the like will stick to it and after a while it will be dry to the touch. If it's on a galv trailer it will look dull, but as soon as you clean it off it looks brand new. Ss Is thinner and a brown colour, dries in about a day and remains slightly tacky. After a week dry to the touch and leaves the galv slight yellow/brown. I use car wash and salt wash on the boat and the ss wore off easier and I had to keep reapplying used 5L in a year touching up where it came off. I have had a hd 5l drum for 2 years now just touching up with half left
@WildHuntFishing6 ай бұрын
For a 4wd as I've done my own is to spray on the hd and just drive bitumen roads for a week and then after the week drive down a dirt track and then you will have only a coat of fine dust stuck underneath. You will be right to hit the Beach after that. You don't want to spray it on and hit the beach immediately or you will have salty sand stuck underneath if that makes sense.
@paulthompson16546 ай бұрын
Other valuable info from rep was the SS version wicks between panel overlap and stands to reason its thinner . Disappointed it comes off easier just with hose pressure . Gal dip finish after 12mths most paints/ lanotec should stick to it . Lanotec is a reapply product . Even the USA branded products are difficult to acquire and HUGE dollars ,not much choice in ozzy . ---My own cars are early Ranger with very very thin underbody paint . Ford do crappy paint jobs ,,well known with the F trucks . I repainted front apron panel at 70,oookm and various underbody parts powder coated . The chassis has transparent paint ---The later Toyota is far better from the factory Both need doing

Hi mate I have the 2050 pulled out the rope out of the anchor well after watching this and shore enough there was corrosion deep into the hole plate just as well it has. Up grade 6 mm will coat the area with rubber paint product, fitted zip wakes much better than trim tabs fixes automatically any roll in any condition
@WildHuntFishing8 ай бұрын
I'm glad this helped you on that mate. If you're on Facebook their is a group called stabicraft fanpage and their is alot of info on what people have done to slow the corrosion down. I like the zipwakes most people speak highly off them. I'm still deciding whether to go traditional tabs or zippys as their is quite a cost difference with zippys and traditional tabs are pretty indestructible. Auto tabs would be handy for family and friends that like jumping around for sure. I'm happy to save $1500 to press a button though and spend it on something else too. Cheers for commenting mate and hopefully this helps a few more people.

I understand where you are coming from ,considering the cost you would think it would be better, but and this is a big but it’s not a car that is mass produced on an assembly line where the company can spend 100’s of millions on development it’s more like a caravan made of parts from all different companies and that is where the problem lies ,installing parts that weren’t specifically designed for your boat but designed for 100’s of different brands of boats and to top that of not everything is installed at the factory some is installed by the dealer or sales companies that sell the components So I guess I look at it like I’m buying a hull from Stabicraft a motor from Mercury a trailer from x the rest is bits and bobs. As far as the cost goes it’s hand made and we all know the cost of hand made I mean in comparison to a production line that puts out 100’s of cars a day Look I know I’m on a rant but I actually do understand I’m 400klms from my dealer so I took it home went over it with a fine tooth comb like you and fixed everything to my standard myself even though I know they are responsible I hope you are enjoying fishing out of it and there is a good side to owning a Stabi Cheers from down south
@WildHuntFishing8 ай бұрын
I agree with you! Some of the responsibility lies with the manufacturers, dealers and other third parties. Some faults are unforeseen and some are from lack of care. There is a lack of a customer service and ownership these days. Great boat and enjoy fishing out of her. Just wish their was less issues left me feeling shitty. Just wanted to shine the light on what you could possibly have to deal with buying a new boat. Cheers for the comment.

have a 2021 1450 and 1550. they screwed my 1450 up big time from the factory and almost 2 years later it's still not complete. Support from them is a joke, even when they screw it up. my 1550 frontier takes forever to fill up the tank. after about 10 gallons, the second 10 gallons you have to just barely let any in otherwise it bubbles up the fill neck. Piss poor design. Same issue with bolt isolation as you mentioned. the 1550 is under powered with any gear on it with a yamaha 70. I wish the gunnels were taller as well. At the end of the day, nobody really does a small open boat like the old 1550 frontier. Tons of features. The new ones are basically a cheap down 1450. I doubt I'd buy another stabicraft if I went to a bigger boat honestly. The aluminum is cheap quality as well. Definitely corrosion issues. I've got a old plate boat from the 80s that has less corrosion going then my 2 year old stabi. The 1450 sportfish I have is decent. I dont like the self bailing deck. it basically makes for a wet floor all the time, and the scuppers dont work that great. There is also no mounting for a main battery, Eva flooring is nice though. Great in the hot summer.
@WildHuntFishing9 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about your problems with the boat! It seems to be a recurring story with fuel tank filling, I haven't experienced it other than fuel squirting out the breathers when full, but I have seen it mentioned on stabis fanpage on Facebook a lot. The alluminum does seem to be alot more sensitive and the isolation is poor. The other day I removed a rod holder and was surprised there was no sealant beneath and some corrosion had started. I'm still dealing with stabi and my dealer trying to get small problems fixed but at this rate the warranty will be finished. Best of luck and hopefully things get resolved promptly.
