Just a question, if you use a head tracking device, this fov calculations are still the same?
@a1337cookie
@a1337cookie 2 күн бұрын
If it's only tracking head rotation (3DoF), then it's fine. But as soon as you change head position (6DoF), the calculated FOV will no longer be correct. It would be really cool if the FOV could update in real time based on your head position, but currently it's not an option AFAIK.

You are a legend. I've used your basic calculator, and it's very close, but the straight lines between monitors are still slightly off. Im hoping you can help me, please. I have 3 48" monitors? Centre monitor is 85cm from my eyes, and the side monitors are angled at 65° as mathematically calculated. I've inputted all data into your calculator and set it all correctly, but it still isn't perfect. Thank you again.

I haven't played MSFS, but from what I found, it does have some triple monitor support. The easiest way to get a mathematically correct view is to be centered between all monitors, with them facing you perpendicularly. In the multi-window settings, set the lateral rotation offset to match your monitor angle. Then, you have to set the camera zoom setting, which scales your vertical FOV. You can find a table to convert the setting to an FOV value if you look online. Set it so that the hFOV also matches the monitor angle. So if your side monitor angles are 45°, set the left view's lateral offset to -45, the right view to 45, and the camera zoom to about 86, which is close to 45 hFOV for a 16:9 screen according to the table. To correct for the bezels, slightly increase the zoom or the lateral offsets until it looks right. This setup is similar to multimon mode 2 in ATS/ETS2. If your setup doesn't match that though, such as with mismatched or not centered monitors, there may still be a way to get a mathematically correct view through manipulating the windows. But this is all just guesswork, since I haven't actually played the game.

@@a1337cookie Yeah... the Russ Barlow video (and a few others that suggest and explain the same thing) has the problem that it only tries to understand how msfs multiview works, but it doesn't suggest a working solution. Why, because the basic problem is that you can't change the necessary (sufficient and appropriate parameters) in the game setup, only three, but you can't get good results with those. Only in case you place the three monitors (or more) in a plane, side by side or on top of each other etc. If the two edge monitors are angled with the main monitor it doesn't work anymore. However, in the msfs configuration files (cameras.cfg, userscfg.opt) you can change the parameters you need, but you would need a calculation program like the one you made. Basically there is such a program/software, you can buy it, but just for one setting..I don't know. fly.elise-ng.net/products/ fly.elise-ng.net/wp-content/uploads/documents/calibration/MSFSStepByStepGuide.pdf ...thanks for your time anyway...

Make sure your head position is correct for the values you entered into the calculator. Also, if your monitors are curved, there will be some unavoidable distortion. If those aren't the issue, then you may want to make a post under my guide on the forum and add pictures, I can better help you over there.

Hi thanks for this! I've been using it from my previous setup (dual monitor) and it really helped alot! btw is it possible to add a fourth monitor below center monitor? I want to add a different size monitor just to see the remaining parts of the dashboard Currently I have 3 24 inches monitor same brand and model and Using SWRE to resize the ETS2 game and it works ok for now.. just I minor concern with the bezzel correction.. Even I tried to input the correct size of all monitor bezzel ingame it still replicated the objects when it passes through the bezzel part.. so I decided to edit in config file and it works ok. Hope you can guide how to use the fourth monitor and how I can possible set it up. thanks

Do you have to use nvidea surround for this
@a1337cookie
@a1337cookie Жыл бұрын
This specific setup doesn't use Nvidia Surround, I used some tricks to stretch the game window across my monitors. That's how I got it to work properly with mismatched resolutions. If you have matching monitors though, you should just use surround. If you're referring to the FOV settings, they will work regardless of whether you're using surround or not.

@@PUGHYTHETRUCKER Covering the screens properly is related to the "normalized" multimon settings and what you set in SRWE. SRWE is pretty much trial and error, follow the tips in my guide and you should eventually get it. One tip I want to add is that if you're not using 100% display scaling, you can fix the incorrect pixel numbers by setting SRWE to ignore scaling. Right click the exe, go to properties, compatibility, change high dpi settings, and override scaling behaviour, set it to application. As for the "normalized" multimon settings, they can be tricky to calculate. I made a calculator that makes this much easier, but it's not released yet. If you can't figure it out, tell me your screen resolutions and the y position of the side monitor (go to NCP, set up multiple displays, then drag monitor to see position), and I'll calculate it for you.

@@fantomasgaming3449 The view will only be mathematically correct when your head position matches what you put into the calculator. Keep your head there and it will not look stretched.
