Wow! A industrial use of a stirling engine! It is pretty quiet. I've seen some quiet designs out there. Too bad they don't have it attached to a alternator or some thing that produces power. There is still a lot of kenetic energy from each rotation that could be used for other things. (Such as a alternator/electric motor.)

Hi, are we free to use the engine model and build more? I would like to get any design details available apart from the report that can be useful for manufacturing this engine. Thanks for sharing the report

It was a start up company based out of Chennai, two Americans founded it with the intention of manufacturing them for the Indian Agriculture industry, this was one of the engines put into the field for testing, I believe the company was founded in 1986 and was operational for a few years. I don’t remember the name of the company

@@how2what4 Ho thank you so much for your speedy reply. I'm in 60s now and collected lots of information on this subject in the 90s before I had internet.. Iv always been fabricating have good workshop with metal lathe and drill mill , and before I get to old i would love to build a working hot air engine to power a evap cooler or for electrical service etc. I spent many years on the Australian outback opal fields and a unit like this would be perfect I'm sure for air conditioning camp dwellings. I build a LPG gas powered Evaporative Air Con that served us well in the summer heat .. I'd love to do the same thing but with a hot air engine.. Take care and thanks again !

Is the cold side being cooled somehow?? And how do they get more wood in?
@how2what42 жыл бұрын
On this model it’s air cooled but there were version designed with water cooling as well
@how2what42 жыл бұрын
on this one, the wood isn't being fed the way it was designed. With this one, the furnace is rolled away piled some wood into the furnace, start a fire, roll furnace back, hand-crank the blower until the engine took over. The original design had a hopper that could feed fuel sources like wood pellets or waste material from a farmers milling processes. Rice husks were a popular choice.

This invention crys out to all technology experts showing how simple can be energy generation. When this Engine can grind wheat on one side and make dough or rice grinding on the other side begs to prove of how much energy it can produce with such worn out conditions. ONLY IF SOME ONE WITH MONEY can take this tech to build a sophisticated model and give some data as to how much heat energy was used to produce how much power. Also notice that Heat energy came from a bunch of wood branches (lying Free nearby).

All Stirling engines that I have seen before have had very little power. And this one is just a monster. Surely if it can reduce the weight and increase the efficiency. A similar engine, if modified, can probably be put on a yacht.
@how2what43 жыл бұрын
the goal of this engine was to have it run in rural farms in south Asia. Having it be low tech allowed the farmer the capacity to repair it themselves and use farm waste to fuel it. In this case to power output is more than enough
