Dude! I've been waiting for anyone to remix "Mixtape" for the past 12(?) years! I definitely wasn't expecting the substitute teacher/high school hip-hop collective combo. But I love it! You're a good teacher.

I watched this. I cried a lot. I could relate to loss (my oldest brother) and feeling a void when others speak of the person and wanting to feel the connection they feel, but instead it's like walking around in a dark room with your hand out, reaching for something that's not there and not even knowing what to expect or look for. He died when he was 20 and I was 6, I remember a few things with the help of photos but like an old movie I saw once and vaguely remember the best moments. Also didn't grow up with my father, another layer to this being relatable. I wish I could give my mother the closure John gave his mother. What a life changing gift. All the research, patience, time, and money. The title, the hook, the editing and character development, and so much more was fantastic. Also loved the grandmother and her proud bit about her baby boys' big ling-a-ling 😂 Very touching and well done John.

Thanks for the kind words, there was nothing more satisfying then turning this amazing group of kids onto this amazing song by and amazing musician and watching them have the time of their lives. Here's hoping they're all still out there rapping to their own tunes now : )

I played in that game, and I remember that shot... We lost to Highland Park twice that year, but we beat them when it counted. We had the better team I believed.
@JHulme7 жыл бұрын
Kevin, I remember you well, especially that "thunderous dunk" you had as it was called in the Home News. That said, you actually lost to Metuchen twice that year (who had Charlie Grubbs and Larry Spigner), then beat them in the semis. This was the first and only time HP played you that year. And though I'm quite sure we had the better team, you got the trophy : ) Hope all is good ,and would love for you to see the whole thing. Going to be another New Brunswick screening soon, let me know how I can reach you and I'll give you a heads up. Because that dunk looks great in the movie...

Certainly... I live in Saint Petersburg, FL now. my number is, 404-454-1534. I would love to see pics and/or have a copy of said dunk ([email protected]). Also, your facts are right.

its showing at NBHS? Where can we obtain the entire movie? I coached and played with many of the participants in the movie from both cities. I would like to share and support it.

Greetings, Cedrick! I believe my friend John, the director of the film, created a Facebook page for it. I'll post a link to it this morning if one exists and I can find it. Btw, the event was well-attended and included players and fans on both sides of the ball. Mr. Williams was there and Mr. Hargrove appeared live via computer from Florida. Now, let me see if I can find that--or another--link!

I have to say, that was amazing, Tift ! Aside from the different camera angles, it had me nearly convinced that it was a spontaneous performance - and someone with a video camera just happened to capture it. It is so natural and honest-looking. It put a smile on my face watching it. Please come to the D.C. area the next time you tour ! (The Birchmere is the best venue).
