If I won the lottery, I would quit my job, buy this house and spend my time volunteering at a place that finds homes for dogs and cats.

So different than in 1957-59, yet then the estate was indeed beautiful. As a 4th & 5th grader, despite the lovely grounds and the fun field hockey times, I recall dark, depressing hallways... one very nice teacher... one very strict and at times abusive teacher... and Major Duncan. The Major was a man who paddled boys and gave girls lectures on how to be a lady. I'm sure he wasn't "all bad" but us kids feared him. I and other students witnessed him chasing a frightened boy, our classmate, who had tried to run away. We looked out the window and saw the Major hitting him hard on his head with his famed wooden paddle. Another day we witnessed our male teacher gather up a shy small boy and throw him across the classroom, through the door, across the hall, landing hard against the wall. This was how some of the boarder boys were sometimes "disciplined". I was a well-behaved girl student, and too frightened to stand up for the poor boys who were mistreated. This fascinating estate has a history of many layers and colors.

This house was owned and lived in for many many years by my uncle, Rear Admiral Hubert E. Strange, his wife, Jean, who was sheer class from finishing school, and their 2 sons. I imagine Rear Admiral Strange bought it after WWII.

This house is the former residence of Mayor John Douw. His son, Cdr Volckert Petrus Douw, II who was KIA in WWII. Lots of history within those walls.

My beautiful school, Wroxeter. I miss you. The white paint is an abomination. The original wood was a beautiful dark stain that revealed the carving and fitted the architecture. Sad to see it defaced. Someday someone with respect for history and common sense will restore the original details.

As a former student there in the 40's -50's it is startling to see the bright interior. However, as a place to live the dark stain would not sell today! Must have spent more than $1.million on renovations! No radiators present! Imagine tearing then our of every room! Installing all new Heating and Air conditioning.- Adding fencing and pool etc! It is so different! Must have expanded upstairs rooms by taking out some walls. Many a fine memory!!!

nowadays, politics has infected everything. How one can bring politics into a real estate video is inexplicable to me. Yet, this is the climate we now live in.

I have to say, that is not the type of Tudor style architecture that appeals to me. To me the Tudor style home is the most difficult to design, and I have seen some that were extremely well done, and others to where they just don't convey that same sense of romanticism, or history at all. To each their own,.. But look up on you tube the Lullwater House, which was built by one of the heirs of the Coca Cola company. Still not my favorite, but it does evoke a strong feeling of yesteryear, in England.
