checking why the exhaust is smoking? Sure you don't want to check the air pressure in the tires to see if that is why thr erxhaust is smoking. I feel like you were checking things that had absolutely nothing to do with white smoke coming from thr exhause. Most things yes. But was all of it necessary? Voltage to the fuel pump?

I want to buy heavy duty batteries for my 2004 F 350 PowerStroke 6.0 Diesel putting into consideration the cold weather.The batteries that I have now in the truck are not powerful enough.I will really appreciate your recommendation and also that of KZbinrs that can also help.
@btwbrand Жыл бұрын
Any properly sized Group 65 , 650 CCA, 810 CA set of batteries will start and run these trucks for 3-8 years. The ones from the Ford Dealer are high quality. If a properly sized set of tested charged batteries can't get the job done consider a full charging and starting systems test to find underlying problems. Something as simple as poor connection at battery posts or grounds can have a major impact on the truck. Many people comment on the "needless" steps and tests they see in videos such as these and there are a similar extensive set of tests that should be done when installing batteries. Good technicians do these test steps mentally without realizing it as they search for what they know can cause a problem and perform visual and physical checks. Every time people ask me to look at their car/ truck/ equipment I'm not only looking at the specific thing they ask me to check but I am also taking note on everything I see including those not related to the issue. When I'm done I have taken note on not only what I see as being wrong but also how the car has been taken care of in the past and to a degree have an opinion on the current driver as well.

If you have any sense you wouldn't put that EGR cooler back on without welding a plug on the bottom exhaust port. Using engine coolant to cool exhaust is a failure of engineering and should have never been done.
@btwbrand Жыл бұрын
Coolant can easily cool a charge of hot air as it is many times more dense and has high heat adsorbing capacity compared to the air it is cooling. Yes the EGR coolers fail on these trucks but they typically manage 100K miles or more with no problems in maintained vehicles. Many people question why Ford or International didn't change the style of cooler on the trucks and the simple answer is because it is an emissions component and a modified version has not been through the EPA testing for certification. Ford isn't Dumb, international isn't dumb. They both know what works and what could do a better job but mandates from the government have them locked into a design unless they want to pay for the changes. They both feel they have lost their shirts on these engines and want nothing more to do with them.
@matthewbattie1022 Жыл бұрын
@@btwbrand Bullshit! The exhaust exiting the manifold sits at 1250 degrees under load. The best coolants break down at 250 degrees. This is why the gold comes out of suspension and coats the coolant system. The coolant exiting the intake manifold on a 6.0 has been measured at well over 300 degrees with a working EGR valve. Everyone knows the EPA mandates caused all these emission device problems, but even many Ford and International engineers will tell you that the EGR system on a 6.0 is poorly engineered. I have spoken with some of them.

Can this reset regenerative timers? I have a 2011 ram 2500 6.7 thats fully deleted and have "exhaust service required see dealer now" but the dealers around me wont clear this since i dont have any emissions components anymore. Truck runs completely fine but that damn message on my evic is driving me nuts.
@AlliantPowerMktg2 жыл бұрын
You can reset the DPF and tell the computer you have installed a new one. However, this is not an issue that can be resolved with the Wi-Tech scan tool, this is a programming issue from the tune and needs to have the tune uninstalled and reinstalled to fix. Typical issue with the H&S Tuner, and you may need go back to the tuner to address this specific issue, as uninstalling and reinstalling the tune is most likely a temporary fix.
@LîNkxUSMC2 жыл бұрын
@@AlliantPowerMktg i already have returned the tune to stock and reflashed, didnt help. Thinking it may have been the mini max just being garbage and them not having firmware updates available anymore i got a new raceme ultra as i wanted a better tuner anyway and that didnt clear it out either. Its not an issue with the tuner its stored in the trucks system somewhere.

$5000.00 later. These diesel engines aren't worth the trouble. They're delicate and fragile and you got to tear the entire engine apart to replace a $2.00 part. When my powerstroke 6.7l gives up on me I'm going back to a gasser. Our engineers have no ideal what they're doing when they build these diesels. 👎👎👎👎👎👎I'm starting to hate my diesel everytime I have to work on it.
@btwbrand Жыл бұрын
I think these engines and the trucks are great. Been through all the problems, nothing is a surprise now. If I could I would buy and repair and drive them all. They don't leak unless they are broke and the parts are easy to find. If you don't heavily modify them and take care when doing repairs they pull apart and go together with little fuss. Most of the problems are a combination of design, failure to maintain, and use/abuse. All of those reasons are correctable.

Will a sticking injector cause white smoke ??
@btwbrand Жыл бұрын
Sticking injectors can cause a dead miss or dark hazed smoke. Depends on if it is sticking open or closed. If you are seeing white smoke and it's fuel related ( exhaust smells like fuel ) then you likely have a cracked or melted injector tip, or low compression on a single cylinder due to mechanical damage.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am a single mother of a young child that's passion is barrel racing. I have to bump up from my minivan to a truck I can afford. I love my truck 2004 6.0 F350 dually) but I am learning how to do things myself. So when I have to get it serviced I understand the process and know somewhat about it so I'm not getting ripped off. I love working on it. I have small hands so I can squeeze around to change the ipr valve sensor but one of the major issues is I don't have a man's strenght. thanks again.
@cezard19313 жыл бұрын
You can invest in a small compressor and an impact wrench and air ratchet and pretty much not need a ton of strength. Cordless is really nice to but more expensive. Just remember to always hand start bolts and use the impact to remove mostly.
