It's not marketing towards real rock climbers, but fashionistas that want to incorporate parts of rock climbing gear code into their own looks. So measuring an image like this against practical considerations is like criticizing a Michelin chef's 14 course tasting menu because you didn't feel portion sizes were like you're used to from your grandma. As I said: the premise is off. Just to keep things clear: I hate artsy fashion and find it rather stupid, even though I get it ;-)

So many people's parents basically told them that this kind of life is not possible. You can't follow your passion. You have to make the "smart" choice. You have to reason from scarcity. This fucked my life up and whenever I hear stories now of people who have followed their passion and succeeded, and are living VERY satisfied as well as comfortably because of it, I get soooooo f*cking angry. It literally tears me apart. That's one of the things I really can't handle and that makes me feel like a total loser through and through. I let people talk me into fucking my life up.
