The key is to provide the interest by which interested people can feel welcome. I get the membership part-the dilemma. And, I suspect there has to be some kind of watershed moment by which individuals do not feel intimidated nor put out regarding any number of reasons-time being the major part of an individuals desire to spend that time and their resource(s). Living in a pluralistic society and competing with each other beyond the binding aspects of family life entails the need for each person to weigh their interests. Initially, RR or Bentley ownership brings people together to become a part of something special-the joys of proper car ownership, the distinction of income and display as well as the satisfaction of the ego certainly play a unique roll; however, the limiting factors which are now rolled into distinctive car groups whether the latest and the greatest or the oldest and the greatest or any greatest in between are providing the ties which unbind. Call it what you will: maturing of the car ownership scene or the unwinding of the cohesiveness by which memberships were kept together or even the very social fabric which keeps most of us on the same page willing to make the sacrifices inherent in a group setting. I believe at this juncture the club/foundation organization will survive better if the regions are given full latitude to provide the catalyst by which we can survive-not just some box checked off on the membership form with additional funds required to join. In this regard there needs to be a bottom up push and no longer a top down push in order to accomplish great things. Even if your level in society is negligible or your old car isn't worth much in the greater scheme of ownership the current membership needs to subscribe to that old adage: everyone has something to contribute. I realize that a Monarch society of Kings and Queens is the opposite of the rank and file; however, a mentality similar to a ' Cars and Coffee ' has to prevail in order to make the club viable for the long term. No amount of merging nor tax this or that will solve the problem of making people feel welcome in our club.....

I have a '96 Turbo R and love to watch these old videos waxing lyrical about these wonderful cars. I do have to take the narrator to task on one point though, although you could conceivably fit five people in one of these the person in the middle of the rear will feel pretty hard done by. They're really designed for four adults, as you can see at 7:12

What? The two mile bowl is circular and there are no oval turns. There are many instances where Vauxhall test drivers have set the cruise control and fallen asleep through boredom and some where they've moved from the driver's seat and sat in the rear. The position on the banked track is determined solely by speed and vehicle mass. The Turbo R was an awesome car that has no need for lies and fairy tales to support it.

@@lukemallory7832 my advice to you. Bentley Brooklands, or Rolls_Royce Silver spirit ?. This is your personal preference, as under the hood and mostly everything else. They are excatly the same car and engine !. Buy the best one you can afford and find, avoid cars with very low mileage, because these vehicles have been mostly sitting around in garages, and these big V 8 engine cars were made to be driven. The longer they sit idol ,the more problems develop. Due to large depreciation, these old-school cars are such wonderful value today. My friend these are really good examples available, but of course there are also some bad ones !. Choose carefully and have lots of fun with them ,remember life is short..............

🤔 Absolutely. This was the last real model Rolls_Royce ever made under British ownership. These are mark IV silver spirits and longer wheelbase Silver Spur. There was one last all new follow up model called the Silver Seraph 1998 - 2002 . Which was fitted with a BMW V. 12 engine. Very rare and now highly collectable. 😅

The people who don't appreciate cars like these don't understand. They think it's the snob factor, it's not. I had always dreamed of owning a Rolls-Royce. My first experience of riding in one when I was 9 years old. The chauffeur held the door open of this stunning 1950's Phantom, as i climbed in I was gobsmacked oh wow, the carpet the seats the wood. I said to the chauffer "what car is this" he proudly said "It is a Rolls-Royce,the best car in the world". I turned to my father and said "I'm going to have a Rolls-Royce". He smiled and said "You had better have a good job". I like all models but do like the Phantoms. When I got married my wedding cars were Phantoms for me and the guests. I was in a position financially to purchase one. I once read an article in a classic car publication 2 cars parked one being a Silver Shadow the other a Bentley T1. The Rolls-Royce suffered body damage. The Bentley not touched. This was obviously an attack on the car as a snob attack. So i decided to acquire a Bentley T1.

Exclusive ? The Bentley Eight was the cheapest car they ever made because it lacked so many items that were available on the Bentley Mulsanne.
