Vague because they tell us only the number of fatal crashes (in Michigan), that 21.7% involved unnamed drugs, and gives us the genders breakdown of drivers in fatal crashes. Nothing else! How is that a “PLAN FOR A SOBER DRIVER?” Under the same title, it says marijuana can “1) slow reaction times, 2) impair cognitive performance, and 3) make it more difficult for drivers to keep a steady position in their lane.” I’ve already addressed 1) in another comment. Numbers 1) and 2) are invalid because neither are the limiting factor, which is attention. Drivers vary all over the map in terms of both reaction times and cognitive performance, but in most cases, if their attention is on the road, most accidents can and will be avoided. That is a factor that is not even being considered. I believe that cannabis use, besides being difficult to track and observe, largely due to its effects being minor and unproblematic, is way overrated as a cause of traffic accidents. It seems to me, we have very little reason, besides comparisons with alcohol (which are intended to demonize cannabis, and which are thus invalid), to believe that cannabis causes traffic accidents.

Regarding drivers “keeping a steady position in their lane,” that is not something I pay a great deal of attention to. Do others? I was TAUGHT, IN DRIVERS SCHOOL, that my lane was entirely mine, from side to side, and that I am free to use the entire lane! Which I do, and it is NOT evidence that I am impaired…

Actually, to this day, there is very little evidence that cannabis causes many if any traffic accidents. It is so far impossible to measure or even detect impairment in drivers who have had accidents (or otherwise), which suggests one thing to me… that cannabis, unlike alcohol, does not cause significant impairment, i.e. unlike the case of alcohol, it is usually safe to drive while stoned. Stoned does not equal drunk! Drunk people are impaired, stoned people are not, usually. The feeling of being stoned is roughly equivalent to having a glass or two of wine, but different, and without even that much impairment. Cannabis is benign compared with alcohol! Of course it is possible to imbibe too much cannabis, and become impaired, but most of us never (or rarely) do that. Most social cannabis use is well below the level of impairment.

If he wouldn't have kicked the door in of the room the fire was in it wouldn't have spread so fast. I barely made it down the stairs. If I wouldn't of had my door open I never would have had a clue what was happening. I never heard anyone yelling fire.
