No need to remove glovebox. Just remove foam insulation underneath!

This video was really helpful. Same issue with my 2014 Boxster and was able to fix following the steps in the video. A couple notes for anyone else attempting this: There is no need to disconnect the wiring to either the glove box or the air bag, there is enough slack in the wires to just lay them on the floor. I found you also need to remove the one air duct blocking the controller from the back, there is just one plastic screw and the it can be pulled off.

Fantastic video thanks for taking the time to do it - just saved me also! Car (991.1) has been unused for 6 weeks in UK cold and wet, took it out for 30 minute drive to find no heating or cooling available and no noise from fan! Checked fuses, all OK, then did as you said! The fan was only slightly stuck but but clearly has very low starting torque. Going great now

The handle on my glove box has broken off and the glove box is stuck closed. Would it be possible to remove the glove box without it being open? 2014 Cayman S

Thanks great video helped diagnose problem and the part number is the correct part required to fix the blower problem. I managed to remove the controller without removing the glove box and cup holders by removing just the sound proofing under the glove box, access is tight but with a little patience it is possible. I hope this helps anyone suffering a similar problem in the future.
