He lifts too much his elbows and doesn't have a good masacote on hands, he probably comes from playing the djembe or drums with a similar technique. The sound is very good though.

Great drums but regarding these presented on the video there’s still one significant change that would improve the whole.

The quinto sounds extremely good. What kind of wood is it made of? Where can I buy a drum like that?
@ossipercussion38943 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robyn. The set is made in Finland with locally sourced birch wood and premium steer skins. Check out the website Www.ossipercussion.com

@@ossipercussion3894 Thanks for the answer. I found and checked your homepage out a couple of weeks ago, and I really like your values and philosophy, and of course your drums which I find beautiful with a wonderful crispy sound. I'm from Denmark, and if I had a helicopter, I would definetely pay you a visit tomorrow and order at least a quinto, conga and tumba.

Could anyone tell me what the exact sizes of these drums are and what material they are made from? Ossi makes custom sizes. For example, the conga on the website is 11.5 inches instead of the traditional 11.75 inch conga.
@ossipercussion38944 жыл бұрын
Hi! These drums are made out of solid shell birch. We make standard sizes 10", 11", 11.75 " and 12.5". The custom shop line can feature special sizes, we can custom make shells in any size between 9-16". Please don't hesitate to contact me for any questions. Www.ossipercussion.com

@@ossipercussion3894 Wow! Thank you for such a prompt response on that information. Wasn't sure if the quinto was mahogany. Anyway,I saw the fire orange set on the website= 11.5 conga and 12.5 tumba and can't stop admiring them. Hopefully some day I will have the means to acquire a set. For a few hundred dollars more one could purchase superior quality as compared to the high-end mainstream big company drums.

Trying to leave a comment but I find my self drooling over those beautiful sounding exquisite drums. I love my Toca custom deluxe(loved the way Anga sounded on Toca as well) and they sound great! Moreover, they where the best value I could find and keep them religiously tuned and cared for(#1 thing to do for optimal sound quality no matter what brand). However, some day I would love to own a set of Ossi drums. Hope this company continues to grow and more people/professional percussionists see the value in spending just slightly more $ than the upper level main stream drums for superior craftsmanship and a drum with soul.

Thanks for the compliments. There is a lot of effort and love put to every single set we make. Feel free to contact me for a quote on your custom set. And please remember our standard birch series sell for almost the same price as the premium line products of bigger brands factory made congas, BUT we're talking a totally different value in case of solid shells! Drums for life...

Great sounding drum! My advice would be to make available solid shells with a cradle ring and two and three rim rings.That way some people will buy your shells and rope tune them also.You may just sell more drums/shells that way.
@ossipercussion38942 жыл бұрын
We make both: rope tuned djembes and DIY djembe kits.

I need me one more drum our sets are pretty much the same I have noticed that the skins were protruding more than normal that's a good thing that Cadillac style initially I was worried about the clamps protruding around the rim but I don't think that would be an issue now that I see the second time still wondering about the real wood factor just natural curiosity I want to see some grains main and have you ever seen any kind of would grow like that let alone a whole bunch growing pretty much the same where would you find all of these trees that grow the same way just curious though is it wood or is it fiberglassI don't see any videos saying that it's real wet they say that they make that particular brand of Congo but they don't show the pattern that you have because those are not real woodif you had a hundred trees that were growing the way those are supposed to grow you would maybe get to three or four to do like that patternbut again I haven't seen all the trees in the world that there are to see I could be mistaken it's highly unlikely but I could be
@danamaguire42854 жыл бұрын
You do not understand the way the appearance of the grain changes as you carve into the tree at different angles and heights. The light color with less figure in it is the younger wood and cambrium layer. That will show up on the belly of the drum as it is nearest to the outside of the tree. As you get deeper into the drum you get striations of color from early and late season growth and heartwood. google search some images of solid shell congas and djembes. Not every wood will produce this stunning an effect. It is partly a function of the wood being "open" grained. The finish can also bring out the contrast in the open grain and the flat grain.
