Bc4 seems to be the first mistake, after that he lost the defender of the light squares and the knight was amazing then...

thank you so much. I hope this is going to help a lot, seeing you play bughouse using these tips. Overall i think that rooks are just a little bit more valuable than bishops since you don't have many situations where you can place them. Great content, you got a subscriber:)

I disagree with the value of pieces. I have reached 2000 in bughouse and in my opinion, knights and bishops are generally equal value and in the start of the game if you blitz out with a bishop to pin an opponent's knight and capture it, unless your partner has managed to sac a piece to open up his opponent's king, that knight is not going to be as useful to him as a bishop is useful in most opening lines. There are more times when a knight is the only piece that will start a mating pattern so it of course has great value situationally and is a piece to consider dropping wisely while bishops are good when you just need a quick solid move to pose a threat or defend squares. But the number of times I need a pawn for a 7th rank fork with promotion and a bishop will not work has to give the pawn more relative value than it is given in standard chess. I would say that 2 pawns for a knight or bishop is perfectly fine compensation. I would also say that the rook is only slightly more valuable than the bishop. Queen I would value as equal to 2 pieces + 1 pawn. I say this based on the number of games where I am not happy with a partner who sacrificed several pawns and minor pieces only to win a queen for me in a common position where I need pawns or minor pieces in order to crack open my opponent's position, or could use minor pieces to defend. But the key thing to learn is that material value in bughouse should not influence decision making nearly as much as it does in chess. When your opponent is yelling for a knight and a rook for a mate and you are up 10 seconds, acquiring those 2 pieces is worth sacrificing everything for! Time advantage on the clock has massive strategic and material value. Bughouse is an absolutely brilliant chess variant and can be way more fun and addictive than standard chess.

Thanks so much for your insights! Very interesting, although arguable ... But yeah, Bughouse is super fun! It might also help with tactic patterns for standard chess ...

This is a great video; easily one of the best on the KIA I have seen. I love the fact that you cover the middlegame strategy. One question: what do you do when Black closes the centre with e5? All of your examples show Black opening with e6 and allowing white to eventually advance to e5.
@michechess2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!!! About e5, in general you have good pressure on that square, I guess it won't be so easy for Black to play it.

Agree with your points, one thing to note is all the games you showed are under 20 moves which makes cheating far less likely. If someone has a superior opening repertoire playing very accurately in a short amount of moves is very possible without cheating. 50 move games with high accuracy are far more suspicious.
@michechess3 ай бұрын
Thanks for commenting! I don't think all the games I showed are under 20 moves, but still, if a beginner has a game with 18 moves and 98% accuracy, you are allowed to distrust. It doesn't proof anything, but you can distrust. We are talking about 18 moves, not about 7 moves. Also keep in mind theory knowledge is not very deep at that level, so there won't be theory for too many moves.

If you are a U.S. chess player that is at least expert level or above, you can make residual income at playing street chess. Another way is to play unrated sections at tournaments, where we get the term 'sandbagger' that implies you are a strong player looking to scoop up some winnings against lower rated players. But that can be a mixed bag, as you may run into some masters who are doing the same thing! But all in all, you want to stay away from big tournaments, as there is way too much competition to win anything significant. If you do play at tournaments, you want to play at smaller venue tournaments. And although you won't win big prize money at them, you have greater chances of winning something. I hope that I have been helpful. :o)
