@ 5:49 I see you poke the stringer through the bottom of the mouth. I am just getting back into fishing since I was a kid and my dad taught me to run it through the gill and out of the mouth. Does it matter how it's done? Does having the rope through the gill interfere with their breathing/staying alive while you continue to fish?

I wonder if there’s a problem with your drill? I’ve been use my kdrill I believe for over 5 years now. I recently switched to a new Dwalt since I was having issues with my Milwaukee. But either way I cut though ice quite easily. Just returned from Winnipeg and 20” ice was no problem. Are they as fast as the new 40v systems? No but still effective and lighter.

Yes Jason, Try eating that LOW Walleye. It tastes better than the fresh water shrimp Walleye you are used to eating. I do disagree on the Sauger. The constancy of the meat is mushy. To me anyway. I give all my Sauger to my favorite widow. Gold, pink and chartreuse are the best bet on color. I have fished the lake for about 45 years. I love the lake. Fish on and please keep the great content coming.

That was a good day when that sun popped out. I pounded big crappies on the other bay while you and Tony worked a really productive area. There's about 6 similar spots around the lake where you're fishing in that 4' area. The key is the taller thick green cabbage. I use a small jig with a fathead minnow and that get's them worked up. Very agressive during that nest building time.

I wonder if the live scope is actually spooking fish or if with the vexlar you just never see the fish that don't come over?
@JasonMitchellOutdoors9 күн бұрын
@@christianvosejpka at times, we notice that the fish push into the bottom and swim away or won’t swim right underneath you while you use FFS which you see on FFS while people using Vexilars are still catching fish but have also seen situations where big fish were riding high or right under the ice and people using FFS could see those fish much earlier. We use FFS as we described for looking for schools of fish and use the Vexilar to catch them.

Jason Mitchell has been a huge help in learning Devils Lake. During my brief time there, his advice led me to catch plenty of walleyes. I soak up his knowledge like a sponge because his fishing expertise is as real as he is. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to hang out with him at the St. Paul Ice Show, whether on my own or with the New Richmond High School Fishing Team, which I’ve been involved with for 11 years now. I’ve been trying to get him out with me in northern Wisconsin, but I always enjoy catching up with him at St. Paul Ice. We’re always swapping fishing and hunting stories, and I consider him a good friend. I really enjoyed this seminar and wish I could’ve been there to see you this year. Unfortunately, you were in another state when the team was in town. Hope to catch up soon-tight lines! 👍
