Actually it won't ferment. Kombucha does not eat oil, it eats simple sugars (sucrose is what most people use to make it), and each egg has just under 1 gm of carbohydrates. If it was fermenting your mayo would start to get bubbles in it. I make "normal" mayo with just egg yolks, vinegar or lemon juice, mustard, salt and pepper and it lasts for months in the fridge.
@SkullheadGCD
@SkullheadGCD 5 күн бұрын
It shouldn't bubble anyway cause it is only on the counter for 6-10 hours. Kombucha sits on the counter for a week and only starts to bubble with the second fermentation.

The Kombucha transforms the mayonnaise into a lacto-fermented condiment that will last in your refrigerator for months. You can also use whey that’s drained off plain yogurt, sauerkraut brine, or any other ferment you might have going. I'm just getting into fermentation so Kombucha is all that I have and it works great. I use to make my mayo with out it and found that the mayo only lasted 4-5 days before it would start to turn. By add the Kombucha to my mayo it lasts sometime 2 months if it isn't used up for other recipes.

@SkullheadGCD
@SkullheadGCD Ай бұрын
Hi and thanks for your comment. The wick isn't made of charcoal, it's ceramic and won't get effected by the alcohol. I keep the wick in alcohol so it doesn't dry out. When I refill my bottle with my content, the fuel doesn't get all sucked up by a dry wick. I would also have to wait a bit longer so that the wick is fully saturated by the alcohol before lighting it.

@SkullheadGCD
@SkullheadGCD 6 ай бұрын
Hi, and thanks for stopping by. The beauty of recipes is that you can customize them to your liking. This is syrup so you want to boil it until it coats the back of the spoon. Regarding the amount of sugar, its probably less then or as much as maple syrup. If you want to use less sugar you can, and boil it longer to get the syrup consistency. I use this syrup for my kombucha, so the amount of sugar is good for me and the use. I use a 1/4 of a cup of syrup in a 750 ml bottle of homemade kombucha.

howdy.. Aussie girl watching your vid, fab and easy😊 have looked up other sites, 1 site instructed ⅛ cup of baking soda/½ cup fresh lemon juice/boiled water 2 cups.. so.. question. why alcohol in 1 instruction, yet baking soda in another.. is baking soda better that vodka, or other way around?
@SkullheadGCD
@SkullheadGCD 7 ай бұрын
I think its personal preference really. There are so many different recipes out there that I personally use the one that I like the best and that I have ingredients for. I've only used baking soda in recipes such as soft scrubs. I would think that when its in a sprayer it would leave a chalky residue on stuff. Where as if you us vodka you wouldn't get that if it landed say on the couch.
@ElysianG_20thcentury
@ElysianG_20thcentury 7 ай бұрын
yes, makes sense.. though any sort of ingredient that involves being used in an atomiser or sprayer would leave "it's mark" on any; or all furnishings.. I'm also surmising that using "fresh lemon juice" would leave some sort of residue/sticky film on carpets and furniture/floor? as lovely as fresh orange/lemon/any squeezed juice added to the mixture; would leave it's mark on furniture.. so, I think I will definitely give your recipe/ingredients a go.. I have smell sensitivities due to menopausal changes; it's called hyperosmia, some/most ladies experience it, lack of hormones, especially progesterone; which protects the inner lining of our nasals/upper respiratory tract system diminishes, so everything is "louder" in smells, and chemicals/perfumes in products becomes overwhelming and can/does cause reactions like burning/asthma reaction, not nice! and it's a very real outcome due to menopausal changes.. so, I now need to go VERY natural, without chemicals and too many layered essential oils!, my home is a very neutral smell environment!, people's perfumes and aftershaves is not safe for me.. fresh orange and lemon is safe 👍 all else is not .. so, will definitely give your recipe a go!😊 if you want to look it up on Google, type in "fragrance allergy/smell sensitivities" thanks again for your vid.. and response 💐

adding also that, me looking for any smell that is "my hound dog nose friendly" has been a constant vigil for me since 11yrs ago; and counting! thankfully; I'm not alone, I've met a lot of other women experiencing the same!, where we we're once ok with an assortment of smells, but since peri/menopause; are no longer.. I'm always looking for a air freshener that is not layered in too many "natural smells" and no added chemicals, so far; plain orange and lemon is ok with me, grapefruit is also ok.. my doctor affectionately calls me "Ms. Hazchem"🤣🤭 people who don't suffer from smell sensitivities just don't realise how impacting it is to us who are! and when we smell their fragrances in their homes (oil reeds/plug in fresheners/diffusers); and on them, it's "oi vey! that's overwhelming, burning nasals!!, and breathing difficulties..it's a very real impact , the chemicals in fragranced products is very damaging to our bodies!.. Ms. Skull head, please keep up the fab work of changing the world to a more healthier environment 🎉😁 again, thank you for your air freshener 🎉

Hi, where do you get water for your water jug. Ive been using plastic jugs and getting it from walmart but recently microplastics have been worrying me haha. Do you bring your glass jug to any store to get it filled? Is it convenient? Im really considering switching to glass jugs.
@SkullheadGCD
@SkullheadGCD 9 ай бұрын
I get my water from a natural spring in the area where I live. I don't bring my glass jug cause first off they are heavy with the water in them and secondly I'm afraid that they may break transporting them. What I do is I use jugs that you would use say for camping and I bring those to the area where the natural spring is. I fill them cause they are easier to transport and carry and then transfer the water to the glass jugs. The water is only in the plastic jugs for a short period of time. Hope this helps.
