i feel like with how many comebacks every group is having, especially when you stan multiple groups, it becomes so hard to keep up with collecting and buying everything. i’m happy that everyone has come to a steady realization that being a completionist when it comes to buying kpop merch is soooo key. i collected jisung for a while, album and non, and i gave up trying to collect his pcs around universe era… like hello LMAO i’ll collect and buy dream stuff every now and then but i realized i genuinely don’t have the money or time to be fulfilling my hobbies of collecting 😭😭😭😭☹️😞

Hey Brad. I’ve been watching your videos for a little over 2 years and honestly, you inspired me to start my collections way back when. I’m very proud of you for voicing your thoughts on this subject. This is a safe space for you as much as it is for us and it took courage to say these goals aloud. Regarding my tips for collecting: I’ll preface this by saying I only fully collect my ult biases (Jhope & Hoshi) but even then it’s technically not alll of their cards that ever existed. I think starting with a binder size that you can manage will definitely solve the over buying problem. I keep both collections in an A5 sized binder and I collect all versions but when it comes to pobs, if I don’t have room or I only have like 3 holes left on the page, then that limits how many pobs I get. Typically pobs are just recycled mv shoot pics anyways and there’s not much variety in collecting every single one. This method has helped me not feel pressured to get every card out there and just enjoy the process. Btw, congrats on graduating. Thats a big deal. Hope you land the full time job soon! I’ll be here waiting for the updates.

I was a hugeeeee twice ot9 completionist until they dropped those nemo albums... Too pricey, not too special either so I decided to just get my bias with some of these sets..and I did downsize a lot of my other collections and I'm planning to also not buy or only one version if I don't like the songs as much... it's not worth spending on something you don't enjoy

I LOVED this video. I really liked a lot of the points you made and I respect you for wanting these goals for yourself. Something I need to work towards with my collection is the album inclusions. I feel like I put unnecessary pressure on myself to display every little inclusion or else I’m not getting my full moneys worth. But I need to choose which ones I really love and want to display, now that I’m running out of space😭 I loved this video so much tho, it really felt like I was sitting down chatting with a close friend💚

Even thought my collection is rapidly going high, I never real had the stress of thinking “it’s too much” maybe bc I’m financially stable after the fact. But I still enjoy the collecting part especially albums, I downsized my groups bc I have a lot of groups I follow, Red Velvet is truely the only one I really go hard on. Finding that balance is always key

As a collector of things and a completionist myself, I felt like I needed everything but now I have limited myself to how many albums/versions I purchase. It was a difficult decision at first but now I'm content. Also kpop albums are soo expensive so trying to get every ver. racks up quickly. I tried being a huge Newjeans Stan but after the How Sweet album, I felt buyer's remorse. I really didn't like the album art and style but I got it anyways. After, that's when I really decided to cut down. The huge vinyl style box was too big and unnecessary and not cute on my shelf. I didn't like the old newspaper look and sepia tones. The dull oranges and off white and dark teal colors are awful. I understand they were going for a 70s aesthetic but it didn't hit for me. Now I only buy an album if the art is bright and beautiful.

this video was super helpful for me! it took me a long time to realize i no longer found collecting fun, it just seemed like a chore. the point about collecting during the era was super helpful! i will say selling stuff i no longer wanted was super helpful for me too, even selling it for cheap just makes me feel less cluttered! ^_^

I think people who Stan more than 1 artists spending is really easy but I really only focus on IU so spending is not too much since she doesn’t drop too many merch like sm artists. When she does drop merch it’s like on a special day or event which is like two times a year 😅

honestly i really liked alot of groups (over 25) but i downsized because its too hard to handle so much groups and stan them, so i got it down to my ults, and i decided to stop buying girl groups (i still stan a few, but i dont buy alot and i enjoy boy groups more) so i got it down to TXT and ENHYPEN and maybe ZB1, if i wanted to purchase an album, and i stan only like 8-10 groups now and the rest of them i casually listen to like NCT.

yea ive been taking a break since april on pc collecting and waiting for the holiday season to treat myself and reevaluate my collections. i dont collect a whole lot mainly just my top three in enhypen & top 2 in txt however i’m slowly finding myself more excited to finish my txt collection over enhypen. i collect heeseung, jay, and sunghoon but heeseung and sunghoon can just be so expensive or hard to find sometimes that the excitement to collect is not really there anymore. i think i might cut down to just jay and then for my absolute favourite concepts ill do my top 3.

I’ve downsized to 2 biases this year, mainly because the one group has taken over as my biggest ult but also become very busy 😅 it’s still not very easy since one of the members is so hard to collect over here and i should start buying mostly off mecari but it’s a good change 🤷‍♀️ nice to see this update from you and very excited to see how your collections will go from here :)

i've been collecting albums since 2014 but started collecting more intensely in 2016. i took a break in 2018, restarted in 2019 and took another break in 2021 though. when i restarted collecting in 2022 i limited to myself to only collecting sm groups and soloists mainly because i wanted to actually complete some album collections since i had been buying albums very erratically over the years. i completed nct, red velvet and aespa album collections in 2022 then gradually started expanding to collecting other groups - one group at a time with the goal of completing their album collection. i also made a rule for myself that i had to have mostly complete collections for groups i collect before starting to collect other groups. unfortunately i'm very completionist and love having all the "main" photobook versions of albums but do limit myself to only my biases for member versions (digipacks, jewel cases, compacts etc). i haven't been able to afford collecting groups as much as i used to this year so have been mainly focusing on my ult groups. i don't go out of my way to collect photocards and only collect the ones i pull in albums. i don't buy limited editions. i also decided for zerobaseone and evnne to only collect digipack versions of my biases, not necessarily because it's cheaper (i have a few biases lol) but because it takes up less space than the photobook versions. collecting albums is expensive and can honestly be very stressful at times. it also takes up a lot of space!

the price of kpop concerts these days are INSANE… a decent seat regularly costs upwards of $300+ and the majority of seats get scalped right away which makes it so hard to find a good seat for a cheap price.. PLUS the fact that these groups are having yearly tours & if you’re a multi stan it’s just so expensive

I went through such an anxiety inducing downsizing experience. I downsized almost every group I collected, and stopped buying a million albums just because I can. I went from collecting over 20 groups to collecting only 6 now. And my mind is so much clearer and I have way less stress when it comes to space and collecting.

ive collected for over 5 years atp and never felt stressed or frustrated over collecting because i think its best if we go at our own paces! im also a completionist and feel the need to finish collections asap, but i’ve been much happier (despite kpop companies putting out 500 versions atp) with just buying what i can! ALSO! i would literally watch you talking about your grocery lists bc ur so entertaining, dont stress i’d still love ur vids!!

im very much a completionist. i have to have everything in a collection. for me albums, photocards, and lightsticks for my favorite groups. im getting better. im not collecting every members photocard or album version. im starting to just stick to my bias’. it’s hard sometimes, but i need to realize that’s it’s ok. thank you for making a video saying that it’s ok to not have everything. i don’t need dupes of albums.

If it helps at all, I really enjoy your deco videos. You can use your extra albums for art/crafting materials so you aren't spending more money. I love making deco pages for my binders when I'm on a budget but I want to feel connected to the collecting community. It's helped me a lot to pump the breaks on what I collect when I feel the itch to just buy things for the sake of the kpop serotonin. But yah you have a nice voice for podcasting, so even blogging about what you think about a comeback or a concept could be video ideas. You don't have to buy and spend money to make enjoyable kpop content is what I'm trying to get at with this lol. Good luck with your new collecting journey!

I have also cut down on buying. I used to buy so much from merch drops but now I've made limits and decided to only get the unique merch items if I like it. If not I'll pass. Iv also equally cut back on going to concerts. I got in a bad mindset to go to one every month and then "beat" the total I went to the previous year. That is definitely out the door and no longer a thing for me. I'm also cutting back on dup album purchases. I hate having so many piled up collecting dust. I try to be very minimal now and just go at a walking speed when collecting instead of getting it done ASAP.

Glad you posted this , I've been feeling the same way and I don't collect anywhere near as much as you do so do what makes you happy Brad!! I personally wanna have money for concerts and life in general and collecting is expensive. I have slowed down from 100% to like 20% for collecting this year.

It is so hard to buy albums when you are a multi stan (there is so many versions of just one album) i think i might just buy only the photocards because i like to collect them (I never really touch my albums again after i opened them, it is also a waste of space for my small room, i also buy mangas too so i rather want space for that)

This is a great video that reminded me of why I decided to stop letting the FOMO get to me, especially POB. My main and only collection so far is TWICE, but now I watch others do unboxing videos to help me determine which photobook version I want to buy just to be done with it. I am not too much into photocards, but if I see one online that I really have to have, then I will try to get it. Lately I have been liking other groups songs too, but I don't them the same way from a visual standpoint like TWICE. I might like the visual of one member from some of these groups and like your idea of just getting the cheaper Digipack version and be happy with it. I do agree with you too that we don't have to feel like we have to buy the rest of the albums past and present to feel more complete if you only like one album and not the rest.

ive been collecting for about a decade and i’ve been through this type of period with my collections many times i’ve gone 3/4 years without collecting just to pick it back up and taking a break helps so much with how you enjoy your collection! at the end of the day a hobby is supposed to make you feel good and if it’s getting stressful it’s okay to take a step back and re evaluate what you actually want to do with your collection! i’ve basically grown up with my collection and i’m down to only the people i really like and i’ve come to enjoy it even more now than when i started! so don’t feel too bad it’s part of growing up i was around your age when i stopped collecting for a while i think it just comes with getting more responsibilities and being independent after college ❤️

For the past year and a half, I've completely gotten out of collecting, and overall, I've been slowly distancing myself from kpop.
