Hi the train you took and route to Santon is still relatively new ithe line was builtt to eliviate the trafic problems so would be a pleasemt exspirence and Santon is a safe area to walk around especially the mall you went to but just across the bridge you have a very dangerous township Alexandra and Sandton is a far cry from Johannesburg where you will not be able to walk with a camera you will be robbed please come visit Cape Town and travel the Cape Flats train line or the main line you will exspirence a completely diffetent enviroment the trains are terrible and not safe and badly congested during peak hours

It went backward well before 1994; the demise started in the 1970s after Diesel replaced steam. But, yes, since 1994, Govt disinvested from passenger rail.

@@Afriqueleblanq I beg to differ. I often commuted on the rust coloured electric suburban train to Johannesburg. I caught the 06h00 shuttle between Pta and Jnb. Not once was the train late or a noshow. Also, I can't remember it ever being pulled by a diesel loco.

A good thing there were no trains 2020, people rip up the seats, through the windows in , burn the carriages, rob decent people on the train, etc, so don't be surprise , give it a change the see how the public act

This goes on for years! Where it is a brand new train or not , people act like animals in the wild, and burnt it out! Then complain, ther's no trains, just look who the people are, that not appreciate it!

What you are seeing here is one of South Africas recently purchased trains. Those amber coloured trains are the bulk of our trains. Sadly most of them are parked off somewhere because most of South Africas rail infrastructure has been vandalized by criminal and cables and other mechanisms stolen.South Africa once had the largest rail network in Africa.

And it was not only the best in Africa it was one of the best in the World. Efficient and on time.
@nelsonchinasamy9857 Жыл бұрын
@@winco68 I used the train to work in the mid 70s, never was there a cancellation or was I late to work. It was a daily 60 km trip. . Then came 1994 and some other bright sparks took over. Since then the reversal began. The countries infrastructure started going back to the days of the Flintstones.

@@nelsonchinasamy9857 Yes i remember too and you are correct my friend. SAR was also a large employer and people there were happy in their work now there are no jobs for them. I hope the criminals can be removed from power and the people of SA will have their railway back one day. Take care Nelson.
