Yeah till you need to pay $500 to get the bumper re wrapped 😂
@dylannipple2 ай бұрын
$800 to replace the ppf or $800 to repaint bumper every 3-5 years assuming you keep it that long or dont get in a wreck. Save the money get ceramic coating to make cleaning easier and be done.

damned if I can find one of those steamers at Bunnings or anywhere, any ideas?
@hotdognobun Жыл бұрын
Wouldn't the impact cause a dent or crack in the actual bumper material? Pain is one thing but PPF can't really prevent dents?
@timinoz1 Жыл бұрын
Correct - it all depends on the level of impact and what caused it. Larger impacts that cause dents (such as car doors being opened in carparks) can be repaired without unsightly touch ups to the paintwork.

My ppf guy says that porsche says not to put pod on the headlights. Something about heat retention or there is some sort of film on the headlights that could be damaged - etc. Does anyone know why installing ppf is not a good idea?
@timinoz12 жыл бұрын
The don’t wrap any headlights in Germany as it voids insurance. Porsche lights in the 991 series are known for port quality clear coat that can delaminate if you don’t install & remove film correctly. That’s why some ships refuse to wrap them. It’s a LOFT issue. We wrap every Porsche light. There’s a correct technique for installation & removal.

What could I do for my gas tank lid and the trunk near the lip. The installer cut into the paint very small line for the cuts. Can I polish it myself? I don't trust the installer anymore to fix anything right. I prefer lifting the film myself, but I don't want to be with scratched car paint...
@timinoz12 жыл бұрын
It's not likely that polishing will remove the lines. Sometimes it can hilight them as polish gets trapped in the cut lines. This is one of the reasons we make kits for virtually every job we do.

Thank you SO much for your demonstration. Just purchased a 2016 Honda Accord with V6 engine. Beautiful car except for old ugly film on all 4 door edges. Used your technique and it made the film removal so easy. Used a clothes steamer. When done, I used steam to remove encrusted bugs and leaf marks on the finish.

Just hearing that black turbo squeek on the film is like nails on black board... since I've switched to the pink one coming from China, I've never looked back... 'Glides smoothly on film and follow the shape of surface quite easily. But I bet you'd tried it... matter of taste.
@timinoz12 жыл бұрын
This was filmed at an XPEL training course so we use the black turbo as a base for all new installers. We don't use them in the shop anymore.

Small sections are easy unless they're completely ancient and cracked. Demo full panels such as a door.
@timinoz13 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob. The principle remains the same regardless of panel size. Warm soapy water sprayed on the glue side of the film as you remove it prevents it from reattaching itself to the car.

Cheers Matt. We've had this unit 7 years. Goes allright for an old girl. Happy wrapping brother. Are you on DAP?
@MattSmith-ee6yo3 жыл бұрын
@@timinoz1 Yes we are using DAP. Not many people using the GCC in the UK, most are using graphtec. Would you mind sharing your cut force/speed settings? We are trying different settings and yet to really find one that works. We also experience the walking issue on longer runs so we'll try the drag tip, we also find the pinch rollers imprint the film quite badly it's a shame you can't adjust the pressure on them!
@timinoz13 жыл бұрын
@@MattSmith-ee6yo I’ll check the speed for you tomorrow. The force changes as the needle gets blunter. We generally start around 75 or 80 & go up to 120-130 before changing the blade. Use the test cut to dial it in. DM me if you like. Cheers.
