I did the exact same thing with the Amex gold in 2023 and I'm planning on cancelling it here soon in 2025. I cashed in on 2 trips and still have well over $600 of points left. I may have done it based off your video too (I can't remember, but oh well)

July 2024, I recieved 175000 points for spending $8000 on the platinum card. October I received 90000 points for spending $6000 on the gold card. The points on both cards were in my account days after completing the spend requirement. You can start off with the platinum card offer and still later get the gold offer.

I personally unwilling to pay any credit card annual fee. I have a credit card from my credit union with 2% cash back. Because I don’t carry a balance, so I get a few hundred back every year.

If I got the business card for the 60,000 bonus points, after I use it, can I then just downgrade to the regular card for $95 a year to just hold that for a free night each year? This way I’m not stuck with the business card after I use the bonus points?

FWIW on the Bilt/WF relationship, i received a survey from WF that specifically asked about the points that were called out in the letter from Ankur. Hopeful that shows some level of cooperation and support for the product

The Citi Prestige/Strata Elite will more than likely maintain the same structure, as did the Premier/Strata Premier. 5x on flights and dining, 3x on cruises and hotels. 1x elsewhere. They might add on a 3 or 5x category of some sort that is indicative of the times, perhaps rideshare since it was never a gas card.
