Saw my first game at the Met in 1963, Twins vs Yankees. 10 years old & sitting in box seats next to Twins dugout. There were so many stars on the field that day that they could have created their own constellation. Mall of America now sits where the Met used to be.

The lost art of bunting for a hit in today's crappy baseball. Well done by DYKSTRA.

MLB should be re-aligned. The ASTROS should be back in the NL where they.originated and the NATIONALS should be moved to the AL where they were before as the WASHINGTON SENATORS.

In 1967 Holtzman went 9-0 while serving in the military and pitching only on occasional weekends whenever he could secure a weekend pass.

Martin started Doyle Alexander over Ken Holtzman because he hated Holtzman's Jewish religion. He essentially gave away Game 1 because of a personal prejudice.

The 1972 White Sox were the last major league team to have three pitchers with 40 or more starts in a season, despite losing 8 games to the players' strike. Wilbur Wood had 49 starts, posting a 24-17 record with a 2.51 earned run average and 376.2 innings pitched. Stan Bahnsen started 41 games and was 21-16 with a 3.60 ERA in 252.1 innings, and Tom Bradley had 40 starts, going 15-14 with a 2.98 ERA in 260 innings.

Wood was a workhorse I think he’s the only player to win 20 and lose 20 in the same season In 1973 he was 24-20

Henry was snake-bit in this game as he got hold of one that actually left the premises only to have a strong north wind blow it back into play with Billy Williams catching it in the LF well. Didn’t miss by much.

Cant believe Ed Ott comes to the plate with no booing or reaction from the fans. He ended Felix Millan's career by literally assualting him on the field just 2 years before this. Much worse than the Chase Utley situation.

Wasn't this the same year the fool Mets traded away Nolan Ryan for a washed up, useless, over the hill third base man who never really did anything significant in his career other than get traded from to team to team to team? A third base man who couldn't hit and only played a few games for the Mets before they realized they traded a future Hall of Fame pitcher to the Angels? Ryan started throwing no hitters right after the Mets traded him and would go on to pitch for over 20 years, getting more than 300 wins and 5,000 strikeouts and 7 no hitters.
