Sadly Bill is disapoiting in this interview, very much. Just marketing and give me your money in the background.

Thanks Mark & Ewann for this update on my favorite distillery, because a lot of whisky lovers including me who heard about that £ 200 were very unhappy about its price tag & it's good to learn there is also a free or less expensive/more democratic option for us...That said I have a 1979 vintage of Port Ellen in my collection (& reduced 33 yo indie bottling expression) but it is still interesting...and I understand it'll be a rare privilege to sample it & the new new make as well...Slainte !

The fact that the previous owner did not make a major announcement of this fact, shows to me that he knows it was not the right decision.

I think its a shame. Wyoming Whiskey was one of my favorites. No one should under value the importance of independence. No multi-national has ever done the right thing for the distilleries they have bought. We do not need them ruining American whiskeys like they have done in Scotland for years.

Awesome episode Mark! WhiskyCast will go down in history as an amazing archive of the whisky world, - but most importantly - from an enthusiast's perspective. The Mortlach 70 angle is especially nostalgic for me, as it brings me back to my first visit to Scotland in 2009, for the Spirot of Speyside Festival, when Frank Scott, Reg Craft and I participated in a Mortlach tasting at the G&M shop in Elgin. It costs us a princely sum of GBP 100 a ticket, which bought us a flight of Mortlachs from the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. If I recall correctly, the oldest was a 1934 which was bottled at ~60 years old at the time. Likely the same stuff that was later bottled at 70 years old for mega-$$$$. But the really fun part of the tasting is that is when we first met Graham MacKinney and his father - from Saint John, NB . Of the twelve participants, five of us were New Brunswickers! …of the Canadian, not New Jersey , ilk 🙂

While I really appreciate all u do, I would listen alot more often if u provided chapters so I can find the topics of greatest interest. Unfortunately, the time and attention required often doesn’t fit my crazy life so I miss out more than I’d like. The amount of content and places to consume it are overwhelming so I’m pretty exclusive to KZbin as the most convenient location.

Great podcast - great interview. Those are the kind of relaxed whisky conversations I can easily unwind to. Especially interesting to hear of the challenges facing new independent bottlers - and those facing brand new distilleries in their formative years. Many thanks to you both for the broadcast! The hour went by in a jiffy. Cheers.

I left a bottle of 40 Creek behind at my parents house a few years ago. I should have brought it back to Japan with me. I can't remember the taste profile very much, I just remember that it was a damn fine dram.
